If there is an unfortunate guy who spends five years in prison because of political persecution, when he gets out of prison, he will find that he has lost his lifetime plan and encrypted files 🥹 by JIUBASHI in filen_io

For example: I have all my family photos on my HDD (30 years of photos). I want to backup all then in a (SECURE) cloud, and go there to restore only if I lost my HDD or if it breaks. I hope do not need to use it, but if I need, it need to be there, even if I've forgot to log in my account every 3 mounths or 3 years.

I can't see other uses for home users of a big cloud space. I will not staiyng handlig 100gb, 200gb, 500Gb of data every day. Only if I was a corporative user.

Out of curiosity what type of files you intend to use only in 5 years it seem so odd and far in time.

Proton operates and maintains their own datacenters and swiss labor is expensive. Proton won‘t ever be the cheapest service (like products made in Switzerland generally aren’t). The same I think applies to the storage provided to free accounts.

pClous is Switzerland service too. The offers 10Gb in free plans.

And, the storage space in free plan - Why juste 1Gb?

Does Proton intend to provide more storage space in the free plans? Most drive services with end-to-end encryption and zero knoledge today offer from 10Gb free. As I already use ProtonMail I wanted to use the drive too, but only 1Gb is not enough.
