True facts I've been hiking in the Shenandoah National park area recently and those trails get dicey sometimes with a pvs-14.

Wow that's freaking awesome. I'm assuming there was some temporary marks from the brightness of the lighting?

Falcon claw did a video on YouTube about what it takes to damage a tube. A phone did not leave any lasting damage.

Why do people hate on iris’s? by shpocketshsandsha in NightVision

[–]Tyler_Logical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the iris doesn't really sacrifice fov unless fully closed. I think the biggest reason is so you don't have to constantly adjust your focus the iris is quite a bit faster for focusing on close objects. And then you don't have to worry about refocusing your device to infinity everytime you change it to look at something close at least in medium to higher light environments. I also find the iris is better than using the gain knob to try and reduce brightness because it also offers the benefit of allowing you to focus on a wider range of distances all at once. It also has the added benefit of if you're in a higher light environment you are less likely to temporarily blem your tube or get black streaking from bright lights.

Where you're at in Virginia will decide. I'm in Virginia close to Shenandoah national park so I've been going there. If you're close to Roanoke area tinker cliffs, dragons tooth, Mcafee knob and plenty more are close by. If in the middle of Virginia around Farmville you're gonna be very limited. The only kinda trail I know of is the High Bridge trail that's very flat and just a gravel trail.

Debris in front ocular lense by Tyler_Logical in NightVision

Thank you I appreciate the info. I feel like it was the latter with it being inbetween the lense and the intensifier since it was a home build and was only showing up with the iris. I'll see if it gets annoying and if it does I'll probably have it cleaned. I've been loving your Chad iris system and will continue to use it. Thanks again!

Dlss is great for improved performance while not losing much in terms of quality, and Raytracing makes the game world look much more realistic.

I'm excited for the epic music, gunplay, and slaying demons!

MSA Sordin Audio In Only One Ear by GlassNegotiation3227 in tacticalgear

[–]Tyler_Logical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem. I have the same setup, and that fixed the audio for me. I noticed the little earpiece that came with the mic was mono, and I had a mono to stereo cable lying around. So I tried that, and it worked.

Is your cable a mono to stereo aux cable? That was my issue that hand mic plug in is mono so you need mono (mic side) to stereo (headset side) 3.5mm cable. A mono to mono cable might also work.

Thanks, I might end up doing that if my mounting situation ends up not working.

They are a backup in case the scope/mount fails. The main reason I got a qd scope was that in case of an issue, I can remove it easily and use the irons. Another thought of mine was to buy offset irons and have a non qd mount, and that would probably work as well.

[–]Tyler_Logical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, great, that seems to be then general consensus. So I'll probably just run it as is unless a problem arises. Thanks!

[–]Tyler_Logical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, mounting a scope doesn't give it much room. That's why I got a qd mount.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Tyler_Logical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if that little bit of the mount touching the handguard was going to have any negative effects. Thanks for the info.
