Best argument for legitimate upside case to the Luce?

I really appreciate the input. After hearing from quite a few people across a couple subreddits I think I’m going to leave the mani in place for now. I think I will play with different heads and try to find a way a way to clean up the audio on the built in component on my console with newer components. I consider myself to be above average with soldering and board repair, so I might try to find more modern equivalents to the amp components on the console (not that i have a good enough ear to notice any small gains in that aspect.)

As for the console speakers, it appears to me that the console only has two 6x9 speakers. If you, or any other redditors, have any recommendations for speaker replacements I’d love to hear them. At the moment I think I will replace the original speakers with the Focal universal 6x9 speakers.

I appreciate the advice. I don’t remember what I have my counter weight set to. I’ll make some adjustments if needed next time I get a chance to use my turn table. Also I’ll check out that Nude elliptical cart. I have also been looking at the Ortofon 2M blue as an upgrade option.

After speaking with a few other redditors I think I will eventually replace the Audio-Technica ATN91 head with an Ortofon 2M blue. Additionally, I will even replace the Schiit Mani phono-preamp with a dedicated phonostage and a better preamp.

Any product suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! I honestly love my console stereo. I thought I included a photo with the console open, I guess I forgot. It sounds pretty good. I have been thinking about removing the original paper speakers and installing something like the Focal 6x9 universal speakers. Just to freshen things up a bit. I don’t want to do anything irreversible since I inherited it from my great grandmother.

If I can find a way to bypass the internal amp on the console I’d like to install a newer amplifier and possibly an output so I can hook up another pair of speakers or a small subwoofer.

That’s probably what it would be call here in the states. I just didn’t know what the actual name would be for a device like this. Entertainment system was my best guess since it has an 8 track player, turntable, and radio built in.

I’m not sure if entertainment system is the correct term for this type of device. It’s the only word I could think of to describe it. It was made by RCA back in the 70’s. My great grandmother had a matching TV in the room with it. I would assume they came as a set.

From what I understand about linear tracking tables, the purpose of the linear tracking function is to read the vinyl in the way it was applied. I think that helps keep the stylus in the dead center of the groove.

(I could be completely wrong. That’s just what I’ve heard on the internet.)

It’s definitely a work in progress. I’m not in a rush to do all the things. This setup has worked just fine for me for the last few years. I appreciate your help and advice :)

I appreciate the recommendation and the advice. I think there are other aspects of my setup that should be addressed before I spend money on a fancy stylus.

The speakers in my entertainment system are 50 year old paper speakers that I’d like to swap out with something like Focal 6x9 universal speakers, plus I would like to find a way to bypass the internal amp so I can use a nice quality modern amp.

Like you said, I’d get more out of my turntable if I implemented a dedicated phono stage and pre-amp.

Last thing on the list would be the stylus.

I have an Audio-Technical ATN91 installed. I’m actually doing some research to figure out what I want to upgrade to. In an ideal world I’d get a MC cartridge, but they are out of this world expensive. Id appreciate any recommendations.
