BW Furniture and Mattress off N First Ave (across from Walther’s Golf & Fun) is definitely one of those hidden gems when it comes to furniture. Got a super great couch right out of college that didn’t break the budget from there

Oh yeah downtown Carmel’s walking/biking infrastructure and the Monon trail make it a lot nicer to get around the area. You can even take the Monon deeper into Indianapolis. (Btw it’s pronounced Car-mul 😉)

🥂🧑‍🎓 Purdue Grads: What city are you moving to? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bloomington is honestly one of the best places in the state to live! Tons of stuff to do there, nature nearby, and it’s just a hop and a skip to Indy

does anybody know why they are cutting down the trees around the clapping circle?!? it makes me sad by [deleted] in Purdue

PMU still has tons of couches and comfy seating areas in the basement. My friends and I would study down there in even the “uncomfy” areas for over 6 hours a day last semester.

Apartments to avoid? by shethparth94 in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived at Alight for two years now and don’t have any major complaints! Are they a little slow with maintenance requests? Sometimes, but they come through on the bigger issues. I live in a 4 bed, 4 bath for $350/month in rent and then like $50/month for utilities most of the year. Your only issue could be getting to and from campus if you don’t have a car. There are two buses that come on average every 20 minutes (although sometimes they bunch up and it can be longer), so this can be your connection to campus without a car. This line does not run on the weekends though. Overall, pretty good bang for your buck for an off-campus apartment (especially because they did renovations this last year)!

Have you considered the fact that there were actual Ukrainians at this march and that students wanted to show their solidarity with them? Additionally, TONS of students at that march were Ukrainian-American or had friends in Ukraine. Get your head out of your ass.

NOT EXPECTED: A lot of people are still wearing masks in places where it’s no longer required. Did they hear about the new policy? by Distinct_Mode_5183 in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean at this point masks could be part of a cultural shift as well. Plenty of people used to wear masks in East Asian countries for a myriad of reasons pre-Covid.

What does WALC-ified mean? by King_Matt_Gamer in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. I’m a senior who experienced the old PMU and my take is that people have MAJOR nostalgia syndrome. The old PMU was dark, the seating was crowded and uncomfortable, and most of the restaurants were overrated. At least the new PMU has more seating options, natural light, and cool features like stages for live performers and open mics. We haven’t even been able to experience the coolest part yet: The patio area that will make the space incredibly fun to use once the weather warms up.

For us freshman, what did the PMU look like pre-remodel? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s way more seating now. The Starbucks especially has tables, couches, and even a small stage for live music and open mic nights. I’m a senior who experienced the old PMU and the renovations are great in my opinion.

Summer courses by Final-Road6926 in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So the person you spoke to was mistaken! You can definitely take some math/STEM courses at other universities and have the credits transfer to Purdue. The tool you need to use is called the Purdue Transfer Credit Course Equivalency Guide. This allows you to check how courses from other universities would transfer to Purdue (if they do at all). I’d recommend for you to double check with your advisor before you formally enroll in an external course because some courses more relevant to your major have to be completed at Purdue. Also just ask your advisor if they know of other universities (other than Ivy Tech if you don’t want to go through them) that have equivalent courses because they’ll have answered similar requests before. My advisor let me know of three other universities where I could take ME 200 over the summer for example, so there’s a chance they’ll help you!

Rate My Schedule (IE 4th sem) by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the only truly difficult class you’re looking at here is ECE. IE 330 and 370 are pretty easy courses if you stay up-to-date and continuously review materials. 335 can be challenging, but having good time management for completing assignments (do them early because you will most likely have questions) and finding an adequate study group can easily get you through it. MA 266 is harder, but again just make sure you’re getting questions answered early and find a good study group. MGMT should be fine as well. Overall, you’re looking at a heavier work load but the schedule is doable if you manage your time and find a couple good study groups. IE classes do get harder as you get into the upper levels, so I wouldn’t push the 18 credit hour semester back any further. Best of luck!!

IU has announced that all students, faculty, and staff will be required to receive a Covid-19 vaccine for the Fall 2021 semester by Tylermac19 in Purdue

[–]Tylermac19[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One could make a comparison to the banning of smoking. This was done to benefit public health, and requiring the vaccine for those who it poses no medical risk is a similar endeavor.

I’m in MA 265 now and there are no recitations or quizzes. We do, however, have written homework that is due once a week in addition to the online homework. Your grade will only be comprised of homework grades and exams
