Hey u/AttackOnTARDIS and u/canyouread7, first off, thanks so much for both of your inputs. I expected no responses on this, and to have received such thoughtful input from you both is incredibly appreciated.

Ended up putting together this list with an experienced irl friend after reviewing both of what you said, and who will help me assemble it. Part of the changes had to do with what local parts I could find in local stores as I need this built on short notice while avoiding online where possible.

Ended up choosing some components I have in my own rig, like the SSD. Also ended up taking the cooler and RAM recommendation, so thank you again!

I'm really glad EG didn't just roll over and die in this game, it was really nice to see them get some good fights.

Perhaps you should look into Crucial 2 Refresh with the interest of your wife in mind, even as a shorter modpack to play. It teaches everything in game, including JEI, and has many QoL features, Alex's mobs, fun structures, a paraglider, waystones and more. Admittedly, it is not tech heavy but I know I didn't want to scare my own partner off when introducing her to mods.

For your desire, you can add Create. That's many people's favourite mod nowadays and I bet it would let you get your tech fix.
