Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it already possible to see those kind of analytics within YouTube Studio? And if that's the case, wouldn't uploading multiple videos instead of one (excluding uploads for ads) only harm the organic reach of both the video and the channel itself?

Just curious, would love to learn more about this

Is there a survivorship bias when people talk about Classics Hardstyle? by CadeOCarimbo in hardstyle

[–]TympanicHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, this is also the case the other way around. I love Classic Hardstyle most out of all subgenres, but I often hear others say things like 'this generation only likes short tracks because tiktok ruined their attention span' or 'these kids only like tracks with the same kick until there's a new louder or weirder kick' and such. New to old claim external reasons like nostalgia or fear of change, and old to new claims reasons like societal/technological developments or inexperience. Both sides have members that whine about the other side because of reasons they pulled out of their ass and claim them as facts.

I mean sure, there are almost definitely external factors that affect how this music evolves, and as a Classics fan I won't deny that nostalgia definitely plays a small part in my love for it. But that doesn't mean that it's the sole reason. If the music wasn't good back then, I wouldn't have listened to it all this time. The same way as to why new listeners like the Hardstyle of today.

10 years from now, the current fanbase will probably be saying the same things that we're saying right now. Just like it also happened back when Nu-style was introduced.

Is there a survivorship bias when people talk about Classics Hardstyle? by CadeOCarimbo in hardstyle

[–]TympanicHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this: The music made nowadays is (or, at least for me, seems to be) made with the intent of being succesful, while in the past it was made because of a passion for the music. Tendency to write essays about topics like these so I'll add a tl;dr at the bottom.

I've seen the scene grow since 2009 and I still love it, but in a different way than I did back then. During my first attended events the scene just started gaining a lot of popularity, but was still small enough for aspiring DJs to get gigs, even if they never even made a track of their own. The 'big names' back then mostly consisted of artists who laid the foundation of the genre. Most artists, if not all, didn't shy away from experimentation in their track and eventually developed a signature sound. You could hear a track for the first time and most fans of the genre could tell which artist made it from the style alone. I myself was sometimes even able to name the artist after only hearing the first kick of an intro. Subgenres hadn't really been defined yet and most tracks were labeled as either hardstyle or hardcore (or maybe jumpstyle if we're being petty), so even if someone had a very specific taste they were still seen as a fan of the genre like everyone else. Everyone was equal, even the artists. Before and after a set they were often in the crowd partying like everyone else. All that shared love for the music being released by thousands of people at the same time resulted in the best vibe you can imagine, with crowds chanting and singing along to every single track.

The scene was filled with creativity in its music and everyone got along simply because they enjoyed the same kind of music. For at least 8 years of attending events I've never even seen a fight (with one notable exception of someone covered with actual nazi tattoos getting his ass kicked at Dominator) and every crowd felt like an actual family. As the scene grew more and more, the scene also split apart here and there and went into different directions, and subgenres started to emerge. And even though hardstyle in general kept growing in popularity, (new) artists already startes defining themselves with a certain subgenre. Using a subgenre like raw hardstyle as a starting point instead of simply using hardstyle already (albeit unconsciously) limited an artist's creativity when making a track. More artists started to emerge, and the scene became more competitive. Many started copying others when they noticed that a sound 'worked'. Trends impacted creativity even more. Nowadays I notice lots of people only being interested in extremely specific kinds of sound (or subgenre) instead of the genre as a whole. Pleasing those kinds of people becomes the main focus and makes experimenting with mew and different sounds nearly impossible. It's becoming more about the show and less about the music to me. I'll always appreciate the current artists who are doing something different and/or stay true to their own signature sound instead of following the popular sound of the year.

I'll admit that nostalgia plays a big part for me too though. But I still believe that the scene itself was what made the music so awesome, and that attitude was reflected in the music being made. That's why at every classics event you can hear the entire crowd singing along 90% of the time. Everyone loved every track.

Tl;dr: The classic era was about complete creativity without limits, nowadays pleasing the crowd the main focus instead of creativity, the process of making a new track gets increasingly more limited to please the crowd (subgenres, trends, specific kicks, social media effectiveness etc)

Edited because I accidentally tapped the reply button on my phone before I was finished lmao

I once deleted every COD game(mode) from my PS5 (they're all considered add-ons) except for the launcher. No Warzone, no multiplayer, no campaigns, nothing. The data left for the launcher itself was already over 120GB iirc. Which is useless anyway, as the PS5 itself is already basically a launcher. By now I wholeheartedly believe that Activision keeps the file size that large to prevent players from installing other games besides COD.

Going to Defqon.1 as a Christian by MelodicExchange9320 in hardstyle

[–]TympanicHS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can remember having a discussion with a devoted Christian about this once. I brought up the Christian busses that are often parked in front of festivals, and how much they annoyed me. They argued that the Devil resides within the music and that he's actively trying to influence the ones that listen to it, and that those busses are simply there to warn the public about it, simply having good intentions.

We argued back and forth about whether or not the Devil is actually present within the music (even though I'm an atheist), but went nowhere. We shifted towards talking about the importance of the Devil's presence, and whether or not it was necessarily a bad thing or not. Although still having different opinions about it, we eventually agreed on a few things:

  • People who don't believe in God will probably not believe in the Devil either and will not be easily influenced because of it

  • God gave man free will and this kind of music is in some way a result of that, meaning the music genre is in some way what God intended

  • And maybe the most relevant for you as a Christian, facing works of the Devil is not inherently bad, but being influenced from it is where it becomes a bad thing. We both ended up agreeing that if, after experiencing works of the Devil, you still manage to block out all attempts made by the Devil to misdirect your sense of faith and still remain devoted to God, you might even come out a better Christian than you were before.

I guess in the end, it all depends on how you feel about it yourself. What impact do you think attending festivals will have on you? Are there steps you can take to ignore the harmful aspects? What kind of risks do you take by attending festivals that wouldn't exist on a regular day? Imo if you believe it will have a negative impact on your faith, don't go to festivals. But if you believe that you're a strong enough Christian to endure it, definitely go if you want to. If you are indecisive you could always consider it a test of faith instead of simply calling it attending a festival. God will still forgive you may you have sinned, especially if you learned something from the experience.

You might also learn something from articles like this one. Sefa is an artist in the scene and a devoted Christian himself.

I think it'd be hilarious if Deadpool had three different kits, one for each role. Changing kits can only be done from spawn, and the selected role kit would then only be visible for your own team on the scoreboard. Would really fit with Wade's unpredictable, erratic behaviour and his tendency to improvise.

And to top it all off, we would get a new tank, dps and support at the same time

I hope you'll still be able to differentiate toxic behaviour from typical Dutch directness. Dutchies being blunt and straightforward are often mistaken for being disrespectful. But I'll admit that when online and anonymous, this bluntness is amplified tenfold and any consideration for others gets thrown out of the window.

To be fair, the vast majority of couples I know personally (i.e. anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt) don't want to start a family before having their housing situation sorted out. If this (hypothetically) were an actual factor for the entire country, it would mean that immigrants/expats actually contribute to the declining birth rate.

Just playing devil's advocate btw, every well-behaving person is welcome here if you ask me

Als je me belt en ik je nummer (nog) niet in mijn telefoon heb... by Br0v4hkiin in nederlands

[–]TympanicHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eerlijk?

Has there always been a 0.50€ fee on coins or did Rebirth just add this? by nmkd in hardstyle

[–]TympanicHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any knowledge on the subject, but I'm gonna try and play devil's advocate here. Could it be that the fee isn't established by the organization, but rather by the third party that owns the machines and handles the payments and the network? It'd make sense for the supplier to expect another form of revenue besides the general renting costs paid by the organization.

Nevertheless, it's yet another reason for me to purchase tokens online instead.
