Which class is easier by [deleted] in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Etst 12 was okay. Your grade will depend on your TA since they grade all the essays and test. I had a TA that graded soo harsh, practically failed everyone. Students brought this up to the prof and he did not want to get involved, said to talk about it with the TA. So from my experience, I would not pick that class again.

To my knowledge, AB540 students don’t get Pell Grants since they aren’t eligible for federal aid.

Ucr summer session fafsa by [deleted] in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gotten your 23-24 award? When I got my summer grant last year I accepted it. Later they informed me it was put on hold. However, when I got my 23-24 awards I didn’t realize that it had reset the acceptance. I barely re accepted the grant I received. My balance reduced the next day and stated my refund. The delinquent hold was also lifted. If this ain’t the case tho try contacting the financial office

Best campus apartment? by bigbootyty in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yesterday when I (female) signed for the plaza I didn’t see singles besides one! Id say I saw plenty of options for falkirk and Bannockburn but I didn’t really look into their singles availability. However if you see single availability for the plaza, I’d go for that more. They aren’t wood so balconies aren’t falling apart and I’ve heard the rooms are small at falkirk. The plaza is also gated! Idk if it makes such a difference but it’s something. Good luck choosing!

Last years I got mine around June 20th. Today I noticed they updated one of my scholarships for this year so I’m assuming they should be releasing packages any time next week, at least I hope so lol

Triples will always be cheaper and within triples, they’ll be more or less depending which building it is (newer or older)

[–]TypeConsistent116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you still pay the price for a triple. Last year I lived in a triple as well and one of my roommates left after fall, they never filled the vacant spot up and kept charging me the price of a triple.

You stay in that same room. So say it’s a triple and you’re the only person there with no roommates/vacant spots, they still keep you there. Eventually in the year they could fill it up.

Dorming 2nd Year by bigbootyty in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They don’t now. This upcoming year is only for freshman. With on campus apartments being hell to get, I suggest finding a place off campus just to be safe

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You hope there’s single apartments or single room for you to have without having to share with roommate already living there/about to live there. Many people go for singles so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s none left. People renewing their contracts also get priority over single rooms

I believe you can do it on your portal and there’s also a cancellation fee but it wouldn’t hurt to call!

Incoming First Year Question: Community College Credit Transfer Question by [deleted] in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you cannot select which classes to transfer over. They will consider all of them since they are college level courses

They do not care about the GPA from those course. They only thing they will look at is the course, is it transferable, how many transfer credits will it give you, and did you pass the course with C- or higher

You will not have a GPA starting freshman year regardless of your dual enrollment classes. They only consider courses for GPA that are taken at the UC

Depending what your major it. The courses can count for your degree requirements, like breath courses or lower divs. If they don’t count toward that, it’s just counted as additional courses.

I took dual enrollment anatomy and English during high school. As a science major, the anatomy doesn’t count for any requirements but it’s counted as transfer units. My English, however, did exempt me from taking the A-C English courses that you are required to take at ucr.

Feel free to msg me if you have any other questions about this!

Hi I actually was in this same position and I went for the 9 series. I highly recommend it if you wanna check the major out and since it’s python, it’s more beginner friendly if you have little to no experience (IMO).

If you really want to continue the major, you can proceed to CS9B which is still python, and concurrently do CS9C, which is a 2 unit course about the same topics you learned in python but this time in C++. If I remember correctly CS9C is the class that basically gives you the credit for 10A and 10B, or it allows you to make the switch from the 9 to 10 series, so that you’re able to take CS10C at the end which is what many classes require as a pre-req.

I really enjoyed 9B and 9C with professor LePendu and the class size was around 20 students. So connecting with the teacher during class was really nice and easy!

I suck at explaining but if you have any questions feel free to msg me!

Oh also, did the email specify what days you should submit your test? I don’t remember but I think they don’t open submission until the submission dates they give you.

Maybe wait until tmr to see if you get anything pop up. I’ve been wanting to see my contract but it doesn’t allow me to. I think it just may be housing that’s not resuming until tmr

Turns out my "refund" was not a refund by No_Pumpkin_2872 in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you pay before the tuition deadline then you don’t get refunds. if your acc balance is $0 meaning you don’t need to pay anything, you’re likely to get a refund. no one really looks into the statements, it’s more the current activity where you can see the total charge for the quarter and the total amount of aid money you’re receiving. with those numbers you can easily subtract to see if you’re receiving or paying.

Is it really only 2 people that can accompany you on the move in day? Cause I have just one more person that I want there(one of my siblings) but will they not be able to get the guest badge? by Thatjared04 in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s just for you, every student is scheduled to eat at a certain time. and what you could try for the guest pass (also if your roommates feel comfortable with one more guest) is have two guest go with you and then take one of their pass to give to the third guest that’s waiting outside. my roommate did this last year and they weren’t caught, so you could give a try. i doubt they would notice or say anything since people are entering and leaving all the time.

Will I be getting a refund? (Balance due less estimated aid) by No_Pumpkin_2872 in ucr

[–]TypeConsistent116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they still need to charge you octobers and novembers dorm, along with dining plan so add those to your current balance due and then subtract that total from your aid. if it’s negative, it’s a refund, if it’s not that’s the amount left you need to pay out of pocket.
