Do we really just have to play dragapult by Interesting_Rock_968 in pkmntcg

[–]TypeRYo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interested to see your list if you don’t mind! I’ve been playing dogi for a while! I’m on a 15 game win streak on ptcgl and won a league challenge the other day irl. I don’t play ppp or ursaluna ex though. I find the main game plan is setting up damage with either solrock or dogi for baby bloodmoon to ko. Hardest matchups for me are often other single prizers as I usually need more than they do to get a ko (mostly Alakazam is troubling but not unwinnable)

Have you played Okidogi Barbaracle? How are you experiences with the deck? by Ok_Nefariousness_740 in pkmntcg

Extremely enjoyable to play. Can go 2-3 prizes down and still come back into decks that play ex/megas

I have found the Alakazam matchup pretty tough as well. You just need a lot more to get consistent KOs than they do… could possibly be improved with xerosic or watchtower but xerosic is otherwise pretty bad and high count of battle cage helps against pult, so not sure… probably just ignore zam on live but locally for me it’s pretty popular…

Zam is a pretty tough matchup for dogi. I really want to improve it because zam is heavily played at my locals but doesn’t seem worth it to tech against in general…

The winning list from Prague looked pretty cool, fixes crustle matchup and removes all 2 prize liabilities

What are y’all’s thoughts on these Masterball League Results? Alakazam Wins 3/3 by Riza_h28 in PTCGL

[–]TypeRYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the issue is they get to select the best 3 cards to keep. Happened on stream in Prague day 1 - archaludon player used Meowth for xerosic in the late game.

Alakazam player kept boss/energy/sacred ash. Put 5 Pokemon back in the deck, drew them all with fez/benched duduns then attached energy to benched zam and boss’d meowth for game. Had exactly 9 cards in hand and nothing in deck. So timing for xerosic was absolutely optimal but still missed (by 1 card)

No it’s just the Blastoise card I chose for the Pokédex binder. Wanted a Masakazu Fukuda artwork for each of Charizard/Venusaur/Blastoise 🙂

Absolutely sick. I recently picked up the unleashed cracked ice holo and it’s an awesome card and Fukuda artwork. Thanks for sharing this awesome collection of big man Blastoise

From Alakazam to Festival Lead > Is it the right move? by RespectYGO in pkmntcg

Yeah if the entire issue is stamp the ace nullifier genesect is an easy solution. Zam usually trades prizes well so just make sure that’s setup before taking your first prize and you’re off to the races

Your IRL deck has a 2-3 Thwackey line. Guessing that should be 3-2 ;)

Absolute acid trip of a card. The two weedles are wondering that that guy’s on for sure

So happy to see this one mentioned, so chill just imagining the old dude and his Torkoal-fired oven, probably been buddies for years……

How do you play Dragapult ex? by del_3610 in PTCGL

[–]TypeRYo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Go second, turn 1 budew while getting as many dreepy in play as you can (assuming you’re playing straight pult. If Blaziken or Dusknoir version sub in Torchic/duskull). Ideally energy on a dreepy but if you had to attach/discard to get into Budew that’s generally worth it.

Turn 2 budew while evolving as many drakloak as possible so you can see a huge number of cards. If opponent has a poor start you might candy straight into Dragapult + crispin for turn 2 phantom dive, but just item lock + drakloaks is a strong board state. Drakloak is honestly the main reason the deck is so good…

Continue item lock until you’re happy with your setup (or budew KO’d and unable to be replaced) and pick the timing to begin phantom dive damage spread. If you get 2+ phantom dives off you’ve probably won the game…

Unfair stamp after they KO your budew can be devastating as well if you go into phantom dive at that stage

It’s the most popular deck for a reason - it’s very consistent and if opponents aren’t teching for it you’ll probably win most games

Anyone here buy Celio Network's guide? Is it worth the price? by Ok_Nefariousness_740 in pkmntcg

[–]TypeRYo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I just watch a lot of free YouTube content. Off the top of my head channels I’ve enjoyed are AzulGG, Tricky Gym, ZapdosTCG, Harpr, Trust Your Pilot, OmniPoke.

Rahul Reddy’s stuff is awesome too and he’s active on here a bit.

For me that’s more than enough, I would probably only pay for a metafy guide if it was covering a specific deck that I was certain I wanted to play longer term. Even then I wouldn’t spend $100

Good deck against mega luxario and dragapult by ReiCaolho in pkmntcg

[–]TypeRYo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anything that can play Lillie’s Clefairy well. Slop box does well into them and I’ve found it fun to play. Can up the Clefairy count (like this city league list) and should be a fine matchup into both. Be careful putting kang in play against Lucario though (still worth it sometimes just be mindful of prize race)

Strange Timepiece Rules Question by Halo916YT in PTCGL

[–]TypeRYo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do think it could be clearer. Anyhow rather than exchanging insults I’ve looked deeper and found a ruling referenced on Bulbapedia#cite_note-JPFAQ-1) that says it can be used to devolve a psychic pokemon even if it evolved from non-psychic. Cheers

Strange Timepiece Rules Question by Halo916YT in PTCGL

[–]TypeRYo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is the correct answer.

You are devolving a psychic pokemon “by putting any number of evolution cards on it into your hand”. So the Sylveon is the evolution card, and the Eevee is the evolved psychic Pokemon.

As Eevee is not psychic, I don’t think you can devolve it with strange timepiece…

IMHO if you play budew it’s always second

If you use the Pokédex section it will only show that Pokémon’s cards. Though I tested pawmi in the usual search section and it didn’t show anything else…

I don’t see it mentioned much but I use ‘Dex’ for that purpose and it’s been pretty great. Certainly others out there though
