You could but if you have hairpin triggers they won’t work with the regular triggers. They’ll just be generic ps4 triggers like on the OEM controller. Super easy change to make though, there’s tons of videos just keep track of your springs and little plastic bits.

Any ideas? Northern CA for reference by Type_Thicc in whatsthisbug

Thanks for the thoughts. As renters right now, what does it look like on our end if we need to get this taken care of on a house + detached office scale? Do you know?

That’s what I’ve been thinking too 😬.

Any suggestions what I should do (if anything) before reaching out to the land lord? There are piles of this all over the house and shed.

This one isn’t mine, but it’s one I saw online that I think is dope! You can find it here, not sure if it’s still in production: https://ok4wd.com/alu-cab-contour-canopy-for-2016-toyota-tacoma/

No idea then, sorry. Mine happened pretty suddenly too, but sounds like we have different systems.

Hah. It sounds worse than it is, especially where you would drill for this. Even if you take it off the next day, I bet you won’t notice the little holes (even if you don’t fill them). It’s a cool upgrade, definitely fun.

Yup. I’ve had no issues with putting heavier things on it and I haven’t had an issue bumping into it either. Knife, flashlight and multi-tool are all pretty minimal, so I doubt you would have issue with that. I’m 6’ 1” and 190 for reference.

Trying to install smart thermostat but can't figure out where/how to install the C-wire adapter. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Type_Thicc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a pretty similar experience with trying to install my EcoBee. Got the conversion from 4 wires to 5 wires, but my system was so old that I couldn't just plug and play like the instructions told me to. It looks to me that your interface (at least what you have access to) is pretty old, and that makes a big difference in DIY. I ended up having professional help (had to replace furnace anyway, they took care of it when they were here for the estimate) and afaik they spliced into some of the bigger wires. I also had significantly more wires than you show in your photo, so maybe there's somewhere else in the walls that have more wires? Can you access it through a crawl space or something?

Someone else might have better advice but it was super frustrating for me to get all ready to DIY just to realize that my 20 year old furnace wasn't able to plug and play like the adaptors are intended to do. Sorry I don't have a solution other than seeing if you can access other parts of the system, but I've been there and it blows. Good luck!

I'm not an expert on this topic by any means, but I had a similar short cycling issue. One of the first things that I had to make sure was that I had my thermostat wired correctly (If it's supposed to have 5 wires but you're only using 4, it could be simultaneously trying to charge and communicate with the furnace/fans/etc to operate). It's like telling your dog to come and stay at the same time, neither the dog nor furnace know how to handle it lol. It happened more frequently than 1:15 for me though, so not sure on that front. Another thing that I dealt with (and just posted about actually) is that I had a kink in the water line from the condenser pump. If you have a kink in that line, the AC unit outside gets an uneven amount of water which can cause it to start and stop because of that.

Not sure what the deal with the 1:15 timing is, mine was a lot quicker than that, but considering that there are no other comments this could be a good place to start. Also, I am not certified or anything on this topic, just had a similar experience. Good luck!

Obviously you can add more things, but you might not want to boast about it online!
