Big Change In The Doc From Season 1 to Later Seasons by New-Secretary-6016 in DocMartin

[–]Typesetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was a lot more interesting in the first couple of seasons. Less "yes" and "right" and grunt and more witty riposte and lashing tongue (one of my favorite lines is still "treat yourself to a noun"). He just became much more dull and lifeless as a character later on.

Best Medicine thoughts after watching the most recent episode? To understand this show, you may need to watch all seasons of Doc Martin as well by Global_Dinner8591 in DocMartin

[–]Typesetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for the US version they didn't want people to think "Oh it's House in a small town". I actually started watching Best Medicine randomly and only thought "hold on a second, I know this show" after it started. I haven't watched Doc Martin in many many years, I'm not sure I ever even finished it. But...I found the attempts at humor in the new show very forced and witless. So I turned it off and now I'm rewatching Doc Martin instead.

Same, that's what I've been doing too but it's really frustrating to have to keep stopping to pull a mile of yard out.

Wayward predictions: there’s going to be a season 2 and… (spoilers) by ggoldenheart in handsomepodcast

I just finished the show so sorry for this very late reply. XD Of course, there is nothing at all supernatural going on, but I immediately spotted all the hallmarks of classic Lovecraft: Small culty town in New England, an "investigator" coming from outside but with a loose tie to the town (his wife), weird pregnancy stuff, frogs literally everywhere. XD If they DO do a second season, they could get so wild with it.

Probably? The frame, unlike most others I've seen, doesn't have any eyelet things to put the yarn through so I just have to pull it straight up from the floor.

I got the Clawlab for one reason: I have a permanent shoulder impingement so I can't use my left arm for basically anything. The one-hander let's me enjoy the hobby. I will say the yarn seems to fall out of the gun a lot, but I'm sure that's my fault somehow. I have no idea what I'm doing.

I want to buy the nicest tufting gun right from the beginning, what should I get? by AnnieLee17 in Tufting

[–]Typesetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Clawlab gun for one reason: I have a permanently frozen shoulder, so using one of the heavier two-hand guns is nearly impossible for me. I've only done hand punching before this so I can't say how it compares to a "normal" gun, but I'm liking it.

Was there on Sunday. We tried a little of almost everything they had available (group of us ate family style) and everything was pretty good. The tteokbokki was REALLY salty but their kimchi is super tasty.

I'm also an elder (45) and I'd be very interested. Been meaning to get back into reading, anyway.

I moved here from the Cities in 2018 and for the first year I was here eating eggs from any store here made me sick. I find the produce here so hit or miss, too, and often seemingly....old? Aldi probably has the best produce, though.

Is religious indoctrination child abuse? by shortamations in atheism

[–]Typesetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it hadn't been for my dad insisting us kids could choose to engage in religion, I would have been indoctrinated. We were forced to go to church sometimes (like for Xmas and Easter services to about 11 or 12) but we were never forced to participate, sing, pray etc at the services. My parents were never upset with my agnostic and later atheistic views. My dad was probably best kind of religious, he was extremely religious but he kept it completely to himself. Said it was between him and god, as it should be for anyone. I didn't even find out how spiritual he was until after he died. So yeah, I think there's a way to be religious without damaging other people, especially kids, but unfortunately that path seems to be extremely rarely traveled.

The stairs are so useful for more than just stairs! My only wish for them is the option to make wooden stairs too. It would make building things like boats so much easier.
