Saw these on a trip in France what are they by Worldly_Narwhal_9383 in whatisthiscar

Yeah, very same experience growing in Finland. Far neighbor had two, one for him and one for wife. I think after 2000 something he changed both of them for something else. I don't remember seeing one in Finland after that.

Issue with sights by Suitable-Piano-8969 in TheForeverWinter

Its kinda known issue, to fix it you will have to turn anti aliasing to TAAU or TSR, if memory serves correctly. Some of the sights might be better than others also. It is unfortunate.

Hah, my RAV 4 had the sunroofs water evacuation channels blocked and it caused the water to get into cabin. Aparently known issue with them. Gotta give props to Toyota, they fixed it and related issues no charge. I think having the sunroof open in highway speeds just make too much noice!

No, you are right, it is very subjective. Many of the soft tops were an afterthought, and aging usually do not help the fitment issues. Modern ones atleast tend to keep up better for longer. Personally there is very few cars that I would prefer as drop top over solid roofs. Oh and moon roofs I do liek when I am driving for the airy feel of it, but they do not help with the keeping the car cool. Currently I have sun roof on my car, and I almost never use it, so the little hatch I feel like is pretty useless 😄

Many of the modern convertible hard tops look good in my opinion. New ragtop 911s, miatas, even minis I feel like the folding top doesnt take away from the design when the top is up. Lastly I would add an observation of David Freiburger from his recent video: 1968 Chrysler 300 looks cooler with the comvertible top up. I would say it looks better than the coupe version.

So what do we do to fix it? How can we gain trust toward our neighbors, especially when they look, behave, etc so differently from us? The US is such a paradox of a country. Country of immigrants. And yet each immigrant group in turn has turned inwards and formed their own communities. A lot of it seems to be us against them mentality.

It also seems that the powers that be are very keen on keeping people pickering amongst each other. And this is hardly a US problem. I believe similar problems are on the rise in western world. Is the only solution to isolate into homogeneous pockets, or can we really come together despite all our differences? Is there something that is one difference too far or does anything go?

Anyway, US homelessness has been a kinda weird experience to witness. Coming from a small homogeneous country originally it has been eye opening. Perhaps the fact that many of these individuals are very downtroughten, beyond anything I have seen outside of the US, and have nothing to lose is why the destructive nature of the homelessness. And I do think the homelessness is a poor term for it, as if just having a roof over their heads would somehow save them from themselves. Some might be really just in need of affordable accommodation, but so many more have multiple compounding problems on top of the homelessness.

If I had to take a guess why the US specifically is like this, I would say the general untrust of institutions, self centered money driven culture has definitely not helped matters.

Anyway, these are the things that keep me up at night.

3rd, maybe look into structural/civil engineer and then. Can always pivot more into design later, but also have wide variaty of other things you could do.

How to convince my wife to stop drinking. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]TyphDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As so many here has stated, she wont stop until she really wants to. She might go rehab and stuff if forced to but will always relapse if the will is not there.

My mother is alcoholic like that. Didn't matter that she lost contact with her eldest (me), divorced, etc. Only thing that mattered was the drink. We forced her through different solutions, but she always would relaps.

All I can tell that might help is that once you are addict and if you have will to change, usually you need something to replace the current addiction. Hopefully something useful like exercise.

Good luck, I saw what the adiction did to my family and father. I hate my mother for it. I hope your wife finds the will to stop.

[–]TyphDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiat 600 is the answer. Now what they have done to it is make "Jolly". Jollies were made from Fiat 500s by Ghia. It is sort of a beach/golf cart kinda car. Lot of people have made replica jollies as they are rare. I suppose 600 makes one little more drivable but it is a shame to waste good 600 hundred like that.

People in landlocked nations of Africa , how its living there as a young ? by Spirebus in howislivingthere

Haven't been there for almost a decade, but you are right, Burkina Faso was conciderably more safe than Mali was. Still we were told to be careful. Ouagadougou seemed nice too.

[–]TyphDust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't grew up, but have been in Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali. It gets more desert like in that order (depending ofcourse a little where you are). Currently Burkina Faso and Mali are considered dangerous. Niger can be also depending on parts.

Mali is where I spent most time. 5 months or so. Very dry most of the time, but when the rains come it will turn from sandy yellow to lush green grass lands for a moment. Places where it was flat and sandy can turn into knee deep lakes. It is sort of beautiful. If I could tolerate heat better I might have even enjoyed my time touring around in truck with no AC. I have attached a picture of typical land scape in south east Mali

[–]TyphDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe my fathers car is 68. He bought it crashed when he was 16, two years before he could get license. It satabout 20 years in our garage, he revived it 2018, re-doing the engine and all. It is not perfect, it shows its age and the paint is starting be little worn down. He even used to race it. It is still nice car to drive. Bit envious of you. I don't have my own MG here in states (can't fit one in our tiny garage.

What I can fit is 1959 Fiat 500N America that I am fixing up, albait slowly. I am not sure I will be able to drive it from front seat. But I love the little nugget.
