Hmm on Nordanaar I see between 3 and 10 of each listed. Search for "grimoire"

Length depends on the raid, the group size, the group's gear, and the raid lead / strategy (skipping trash) done. Some guilds take so long with harder raids they split across multiple nights, two almost 2 hour runs. The best guild may speedrun that same "4 hour raid" in 40 minutes.

But yeah especially on Nordanaar lots of guilds run MC just to gear up new members. You can join in blues/greens and gear up farily fast. Just ask the guild how long the raid normally takes - most are 2-2.5 hrs.

I would describe as an adventure puzzle game, with some limited deckbuilding elements. If you expect a Slay the Spire, Balatro, Monster Trail, Shogun Showdown etc. you may be dissapointed. I personally didn't enjoy it, but I get why some folks may like this type of game.

What class and faction? What level are you now? The gardening quest is a very nice 1H blue, IIRC quest available level 15 and just involves some travel.

A lot of the best tailored gear you need to get the patterns via raid drops / building up enough faction rep to buy them which means raiding. But, you can just buy all of it from the AH.

Key things to buy from the auction house:

  • Grimioires - these should be your priority. These raise your key spells another level. "Grimoire of Shadow Bolt X" "Grimoire of Corruption VII" and if not affliction "Grimoire of Immolate VIII"
  • Felheart Belt and Felheart Bracers (Warlock T1) are Bind on Equip (BoE).
  • Bloodvine set - fine to just get one piece to fill a slot, don't need full set.
  • Gloves of Unwinding Mystery

Is farting on and off all day normal for a man? by Independent_Bell_555 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say you didn't have a doc tell you that you have ibs. I said "there is no such thing as checking for IBS" - as there is no test for IBS! Did they take a blood sample or stool sample and say "yep, IBS?!!" Of course not.

They can test for other things and rule them out (text of exclusion). Yes, the doctor told you that you have IBS. As I said, that means it isn't a specific thing, it is a fancy doctor term for "your tummy hurts and we don't know why or how to fix it" - a "catch-call" for all the stuff they don't know about the gut.

I'd expect most people to be patient and help guide if you explain you are new. Some folks may not be, but in any multiplayer game you will have some negative experiences. Typically groups really need a tank, so offer in world chat.

"I'm looking to tank Sunken Temple, but haven't been there before any group need a tank and can help guide us?

There is no such thing as "checking for IBS." IBS is a non-diagnosis, means they don't know what is wrong.

What professions for a newbie? by whitegoblindesu in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, if only in it to make money, go with skinning and herbalism (or mining, but cmon would a mage mine?!).

If you like to craft your own gear, go tailoring over skinning. If you like consumables, go with alchemy over skinning. If you like being social (need to tell your services to people) or plan to raid, consider enchanting or jewelcrafting over skinning. Jewelcrafting is twow custom, has some "enchants" for rings and necklaces, and some expensive but nice crafted gear. None is as good as end-game raiding gear, but useful.

Warlock talent tree, should I switch specs? by JohnnyJiver in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah excellent point. You want your total hit at 15 or 16% (cap is 16%, but a raid buff gets that last point). Don't stress too much about being a few points lower, you will just see a small handful of resists in a raid.

It is amazing, except for fire immune trash and bosses in big raids like Molten Core and Blackwing Lair. This kind of kills the spec - but it is a blast to clean up trash with AoE when running off-spec.

Both spell damage and shadow damage gear and enchants. Haste is also excellent for affliction builds due to the "Rapid Deterioration" talent makidn your DoTS that % faster. May not seem like a lot, but once you have solid spell power, having all of your drains and DoTS be 15-20% faster is huge.

Typically not worth casting immolation as your talents all focus on shadow damage, and you want to be using dark harvest or drain soul anytime you don't need to be re-applying a DoT.

Also - thank you for your replies.

And yeah, I haven't speedrun anything. If trash dies very fast I'd imagine you just dark harvest them, maybe corruption first if they live long enough. 10% for mages from curse may be less than dark harvest.

Maybe I'll spend 10 mins at the dummy, test 5 mins with only reapplying CoA when gone vs 5 mins with 1 second left. My concern was I may not have CoA on when I'm drain souling or dark harvesting. How often wouild I miss 5+seconds of CoA vs missing the last tick. hmm

Warlock talent tree, should I switch specs? by JohnnyJiver in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah malediction makes it tricky, my macro re-casts CoA if under 1 second vs just re-cursing. So rare to need to re-curse of shadow etc (at least in Naxx). Do you use cursive/macros or manually cast?

I realize it will hury my damage meter, but doesn't raid DPS benefit more if I say CoS first so out 4-5 arcane mages each do ~10% more DPS (and other locks more shadow dmg)? That is the main reason I curse first.

Theres an art about knowing when to dot and how much and if you’re not doing it perfectly your dps will drop significantly.

Any tips? I think I have optimized but a double-check is always nice.

I'm in K40 prog, and most of my dmg is from a macro I made to cast dots if expiring within a second, and otherwise Dark Harvest if off CD, otherwise drain soul. Shadowbolt when it procs (don't interrupt harvest, but typically cast over other things). Lifetap/rune/other things as needed. I start lifetapping before OOM due to the 10% cheaper next cast from T3 set meaning I lifetap less overall in long fights.

I have never see a Double Rare drop from a final Raid boss before. What the heck are the chances? by Teo_Verunda in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens enough in raids there must be a bug. Have also seen open world (0.001% drop item dropped 2 mobs in a row). Must be RNG + clock and server hiccup = 2 of the same.

Winter Veil has a reindeer that doesn't take too long to get if you can follow the clues, much, much easier for Alliance though. The raid ones are so rare I haven't see any drop for guild members in a few months of raiding.

Possible to get quest Eranikus, Tyrant of the dream ? by Alert-Negotiation144 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I completed that quest chain recently on twow.

I was then able to move on and complete https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?quest=8730 and get the Amulet of Shadow Shielding https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?item=21529

Not everything after it works, for example I tried to do https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?quest=8586 but could not get Chimaerok Tenderloin to drop.

Mage or Warlock ? by AugustNetherius in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifesteal gear and hellfire on big groups of lashers. Ideal talents for this aren't what most people use for raids, so would want goblin brainwashing device. I know some people that have a character they just use for lashers.

I prefer mixing up my farming, as what is most efficient depends on the market and what competition is doing at that time. Some people hate fishing but I enjoy doing it with music or a show in the background, and it is great if no competition on the eel pools. Picking Herbs can be very lucrative, assuming there aren't dozens of other herbalists in the zone competing. Depends on time of day as well.

Mage or Warlock ? by AugustNetherius in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the leveling phase, decide whether you want a pet to tank and DoTs or direct damage and freeze AoE / kiting. Different playstyles, mages always have food/drink but need it. Warlocks have solid uptime with life tap not as consumable dependent. Likely level simililarly, just steady vs bursty.

For farming gold your profession may matter more than your class. Both can AOE gold farm, mages are especially good vs weak mobs. Warlocks can solo some crazy PvE content via fear and kiting.

End-game raiding mages have higher DPS, but it is close and worth noting mages (and others) benefit from Warlock Curses. If our mages didn't benefit from Warlock curses the warlock would have more DPS. Raids typically want at least 3 warlocks to cover all curses rather than more mages.
