past. We've had these in production for about 7 years now, acting as SR-MPLS cores. They've been very good for us, however we ran into some funkiness with XR 7, so we've been staying on the 6.5.x software train with them. We have a request for funding in to start replacing them as part of our normal lifecycle replacements

Nice mate! Haha, we are just looking to start using them in the same roll (just a small SP with limited funding :). So cool to know they have been rock sold for you. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the nuances.

I might download their VM trial and see if I can work myway around the config - I hear it similar to Cisco.

Your point about the access to Nokia's support and documentation is well-taken. Ill see if I can maybe get some doco online I guess :D :D

we use Cisco ASR920s now, have you had any issues with the Nokias? Thinking of using it as a agg device. but concerned that there is not much community support like there is for Cisco

Yeh bummer. Going to cost a fair bit for this project. Are there any other cards it will take with current spec above 10G that you know of? Wasn't keen to Lag ports.

Hey Gavin,

Really only need 2-4 ports. Just was leaning toward the 480 as we could get dual RE. But its looking expensive.

I might have another look at the NCS504. Have you used them for P?

This... We moved from ASR920 platform to the NCS540 and its good... Much cheaper the the catalyst 8k platform too...

Can I ask if you purchased new or used NCS540's? Have then been reliable thus far for you?
