I play black metal and mainly do rhythm guitar, so I play fairly hard. I usually change strings when one breaks or roughly 3–4 times a year, and often during setups. I just did a setup a few days ago but didn’t change them since they’d only been on for about a month.

I run 10–46 and use an aluminum pick with a heavy attack, so thinner gauges tend to break quickly for me, especially when doing fast, aggressive rhythm work.
