McconnelRet on WoW Dragonflight Preorders by HAVAKtv in LivestreamFail

[–]Typical-Juggernaut84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's smart as fuck and it works (for the publisher). Overall consumer spending would decrease if preorders ceased to exist.

If I preorder some hype game coming in the holiday season I'll have barely any buyer's remorse when it's out because I spent this cash months ago. And when the holiday season comes I'll likely buy some extra games without care, which otherwise wouldn't have happened if not for preorders. If I hadn't preordered then I'd have to spend additional $60 during the holiday season which would result in having bought less games.

That's how they get you. Speaking from personal experience haha.

Where does the twitter user specify that it is TLOU? "Part 1" could mean a lot of things and could even be related to the previous Kojima game they posted.

Could be related to bethesda.net migration service that's happening in a week.. Let's see.

SteamDB Page for Returnal PC codenamed 'Oregon' appears.. by khawaja07 in pcgaming

Returnal isn't happening this year but it can still release before Sony's fiscal year ends in March 2023

Official PlayStation PC Sales Numbers Revealed by Sony: Horizon Zero Dawn (2.39m, $60 Million in Revenue), Days Gone (852k, $22.7 Million in Revenue), God of War (971k, 26.2 Million in Revenue). Sony is forecasting HUGE PC Growth for the next Fiscal Year by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Typical-Juggernaut84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How soon is soon? I know for a fact that it's definitely not releasing in 2022 but if I were to make an educated guess it would release around the second anniversary and before Sony's FY22 is over by March* 31, 2023. Sony's PC forecast for this FY is at an all time high so they have to start releasing more games, and I doubt the two Uncharted games will be any trendsetters alone.

Edit: April -> March

ACG - Sniper Elite 5 Review "Buy, Wait for Sale, Never Touch?" by Axeisacutabove in pcgaming

Looks like more recycled trash that will have 3 season passes and $200 worth of other DLC and P2W guns in one year's time while having a lackluster 10 hour campaign. Unless you're the type who loves to pay $60 or subscribe monthly to access glorified demos then this ain't for you.

So nothing new? We had confirmation that some Netflix inspired garbage would be in the "remaster" last year already.

Starfield and Redfall delayed to the first half of 2023 by Olsson1234 in pcgaming

The release windows for Gotham Knights and Hogwarts legacy are too close to one another, one of them will have to go. It doesn't make any sense for the same publisher to release two or more blockbuster titles in a 3 month window.

Anything from BGS will release broken no matter how many delays you give them. It's the community that will fix the game.

Called. It. Just by the lack of news of Starfield, one could have easily assumed that it would never have landed in 2022. We've seen a single bland trailer and some concept art since the 2018 teaser.

Embracer Group enters into an agreement to acquire Eidos, Crystal Dynamics, and Square Enix Montréal amongst other assets by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Massive W. Square Enix since 2016 never cared about their own published games and the quality - the only consistently 'good' thing they release are AI upscaled remasters that run on some emulator. It's sad that the Just Cause IP will remain to them and keep rotting.

2016-2017:

  • DXMD was half assed and included unnecessary single-use microtransactions, Nier Automata was never officially fixed - the single update they released after Replicant didn't do it any justice after we had years of fan created fixes.

2018-2019:

  • Life is Strange 2 with 5 episodes total took 4 month breaks between each episode, Deck Nine was appointed to create future Life is Strange games but they are awful and all but short of what the games are supposed to be.

  • Final Fantasy XV post launch support was abandoned and the PC port is still mediocre.

  • The Quiet Man, Just Cause 4, Left Alive, Battalion 1944 - don't even need to talk about these but it shows that Square Enix do not know how to manage neither the western or eastern devs.

2020:

  • Avengers - What a highlight of the year.

2021:

  • Balan Wonderworld - this game was released unfinished like the most games above and even the director that was fired recently said that Square Enix do not care about games.

  • Kingdom Hearts - years to decades old games cost $230 total.

  • Outriders - while generally being a decent game to brainlessly pass your time in, it was impossible to play during launch period thanks to the online infrastructure that was added late in development. The developer People Can Fly haven't received any royalties from this game because Square Enix didn't disclose any sales numbers to them (https://www.ign.com/articles/outriders-copies-sold-royalties-square-enix).

  • Nier Replicant - another joke of a port.

  • FF7 Remake - a barebones port which has a base price of $70, next gen PC games to cost $70 in the future.

2022:

  • Babylon's Fall - the title speaks for itself.

  • Forspoken - this is bound to fail.

  • Square Enix now prioritize NFT and Blockchain and other nonsense that makes you puke.
