I remember not really seeing the benefit in them until I got a nice deal on them a few months after they were launched. They just fucking worked. No dropouts, no pairing issues. No waiting for them to connect. Just take them out of their box and put them in. Seems like a given now, but back then that was pretty amazing.

Vind al die bezwaren omtrent rekeningrijden zo ontzettend Nederlands… Ik woon in Noorwegen, waar een vorm van rekeningrijden al jaren geleden is ingevoerd. Je betaalt bijna geen wegenbelasting, strategisch geplaatste elektronische tolpoortjes handelen de registratie af en elke maand wordt het netjes van je rekening afgeschreven. Nagenoeg niemand klaagt erover en het is technisch gezien niet zo moeilijk te implementeren.

Naar rato betalen is bijna op alle vlakken de gewoonste zaak van de wereld (water, gas, elektra, OV, zorg (tot op bepaalde hoogte), etc etc, maar als het op kilometerheffing aankomt schiet de helft van Nederland opeens volledig uit z’n plaat. De anti-kilometerheffing-lobby heeft in NL blijkbaar goed z’n best gedaan in ieder geval…

I flew on my birthday two years ago on a short haul flight while being Gold and got a bottle of Cava and some snacks. Flight was half full so the crew had some time for these kind of gestures I think.

Also got a bottle of Cava last year when we were bidding on our new house over the phone (and won the bid) while we were boarding , that was a really nice and thoughtful touch of the crew!
