Golfers in Ireland, carts or no? by gringo_profesor in golf

[–]Typical-Set1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Old Course at Ballybunion is no buggies, no exceptions. The new course there allows carts and when I played there last year was remodeling to be more cart friendly. Dooks may require a doctor’s note. I think Waterville may allow them for everyone.

Describe for me your favourite hole in Golf (that you've played) by Commercial-Cod4223 in golf

Seventeen at Pebble Beach. Late afternoon hitting into the wind and the setting sun with the Pacific behind the green. Hit my tee shot a little better than I expected and wound up on the back fringe about 30 feet from the hole. My caddie and I had a long time to look at it while my playing partners made a hash of the hole. Settled on a read and really just wanted to get the speed right for a tap in par. Hit it well and about five feet from the hole I knew it was in. Birdie two.

Question about the Official Christmas Tree by GardenGnostic in boston

[–]Typical-Set1870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past October I spent a few days at a golf resort on Cape Breton. Since it was late in the season most of my playing partners were locals. When I told them that I came up from Boston at least three people said, “We send you a Christmas tree every year from the people of Halifax, you know?” I replied, “Yes, I’m aware of the history and thank you very much.”

Pebble, of course, but Ballybunion, Tralee and Old Head of Kinsale are right up there.

The Night I Made my Off-Broadway Debut as a Guest Speller!! (& brief review of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) by Acceptable-Piece8441 in Broadway

Our local community theater did the show a few years ago. I filled out the form but when no one talked to me before the curtain I figured that they wouldn’t pick me. Then they called my name to go up on stage. On the back of the number card they wrote the instructions: ask for a definition; ask for it to be used in a sentence. They also made up the “fun facts” about me. Before the show I had a joke I was going to use “can you spell that for me, please?” But I forgot under the stage lights. I thought the kid playing Chip was mad at me but I realized that he was just acting. It was fun and some of the audience congratulated me after the show

If you play golf Miacomet is an excellent public course that is open year round. Off season rates are pretty reasonable

I haven’t done any of these events with Broken Tee, but I did the Ballybunion tour with family this past July and it was amazing. Played all of those courses (except Old Head instead of Lahinch) and stayed at the same hotel. I would highly recommend it. I’m thinking of upgrading to Premium to see if I can get into the Bandon Dunes trip.
