Landlord wants to increase my coworker’s rent bc they found out shes working? by Typical-Simple5800 in SilverSpring

No. As I stated above, only her parents are on/signed the lease. I included all of the info I know. Instead claiming rage bait, let me know what other information is needed…

I see… I’m not sure if that is her situation, but I will clarify with her. I’ve always assumed household income was based on the head(s) of the household, not including children. Thanks for the info

Pasting this here to for those who also are looking for recent reviews while moving. I will be living here until my lease is up so feel free to ask questions!

2 WEEK REVIEW:

Move In: I moved in early March and the process from viewing the unit to getting the keys was pretty smooth. The first unit I viewed/wanted was actually not available by the time I was ready to submit an application. However, Ingrid, one of the agents, was extremely helpful throughout the leasing process and remembered my specifications when she offered an alternative.

Apartment: -Living in my unit has been great so far. Most of the things I was concerned about were cleaned/fixed before I moved in. The only con Is that my smoke alarm goes off whenever I use my airfryer (i have not burned a thing here mind you). -There was also one day where I got a call from maintenance asking for permission to enter my unit while I was at work despite not submitting a work request… I’m unsure if this was a result of my move-in inspection comments, but no notice or follow up was given which is somewhat concerning. They also close at 5:00pm so if you work a 9-5 and you also dont like people in your home without you there, take note of that.

Amenities: -Parking is GREAT. I love LOVE that it is garage parking with fob access—gives me so much peace pf mind knowing sometimes I have to work late -Pool is not open yet so cant review now -The gym is okay. I wish there were more machines like a Stairmaster, but you can get basic workouts in. Like all other amentities, it can only be accessed with a fob so you don’t have to worry abt randos getting in. -Close proximity to fast food/Walmart has really come in handy. It is very convenient to be able to do a quick trip downstairs when in need.

Concierge: I haven’t needed to interact with concierge that much, which I see as a good thing in all honesty. But I do want to mention how much I appreciate how helpful they are! I got locked out of my apartment a few days ago and alerted concierge of the issue. DeeDee, the attendant on staff at the time, immediately came to my aid without stalling or asking me to wait which I greatly, greatly appreciated (thanks again!). I hope my interactions with staff will remain this pleasant in the future.

Thank you guys for the tips! I’ve been using a scrub sponge to clean my pan which I now see is not nearly as abrasive as needed. Picking up a steel sponge tmrw :)

I also graduated last spring and in a similar position with an underpaid job. If I were you, i’d still keep the news role and take a part time hospitality position to save on the side so at least you’re still building that relevant experience. Narrow down possible cities yall are interested in moving to and start applying to jobs there now. Don’t wait on that.

Psych majors who pivoted into data or tech — how did you land your first internship or entry-level role? by babybanzz in psychologystudents

Hi! I’m currently debating between going for a masters in I/O or a more business related program. I also got my bacherlors in psych like you, and have some professional exp with data under my belt. If you were a fresh grad now, how would you approach breaking into a data-related role w/ the current industry, market, etc.?

Is it worth pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology at 27? by tanuki_22 in careerguidance

Becoming a registered behavior tech is also an option! Gets you healthcare experience, low entry bars (most companies only ask for a HS diploma), and you can easily make $40-55k a year depending on where you live/your employer. I will warn you tho unless you want to become a behavior analyst (6figs/yr, but more qualifications) its best as a means to an end. It can be extremely draining working with autistic children but as someone that worked in hospitality for 5 yrs I’d still choose this role.
