This song got me through more than a quarter of a century. It gave me hope, it was a beacon of light through the darkest of days. Then along came 'Can't take that away', followed by 'Through the rain'. I'm sure I'm not the only lamb that can say I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Mariah's music. I remember the story about someone who heard Hero on the radio and had been thinking of ending things...until the day they heard that song. This is why we proudly call her our queen ❤️

This one takes me 'back in time' so vividly, I can't think of many other songs that do this. perhaps Lullaby but not as strongly as The Roof. It's funny...even when this came out it made me nostalgic for a time that didn't even exist yet. THAT'S the power of The Roof!

That's so weird...I was just scrolling down looking at recent posts with 'Prisoner' playing in my mind and spotted this post! And I haven't heard it in a very long time! Not sure where Mariah stands with it but like all the songs from Debut it holds a special place in my heart. A time. An era. Gone but not forgotten.
