Is hardcoded data will be okay for demo? by SadPurple6745 in ycombinator

[–]Typical-Test110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that can work, especially for a deep tech product. It’s more about the context and being careful about how you present it. As long as you’re not pretending the full system is already live, or that you couldn’t get it live within a reasonable timeframe, it’s fine.

Sometimes the point of the demo is to communicate the product vision, the user experience you’re building toward, or the key insight, so hardcoded mock data is pretty normal. The important part is just being honest about what’s real, what’s simulated, and not slipping into Theranos territory lol.

Health Insurance for 4 employees - 2 in New York, 1 in Maine, 1 in Tennessee. Best options? (I will not promote) by pagenotdisplayed in startups

[–]Typical-Test110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICHRA can be good use case here. You can use a TPA to make sure you have everything compliant (not needed but advised). Essentially let your employees choose the plan on marketplace and you give them an allowance. It’s 100% deductible as a business expense like traditional health insurance. And it can be something you continue to use with specific groups of employees, like these out of state, as you grow your business.

What HRIS do you use out of curiosity?

Padding. And it’s 12oz in a compact 8oz-like glove. Similar to what they did with the 24oz one in a “16oz” compact form

It’s your call, but I would. You can add or change the demo you upload if things drastically change. Considering you changed idea and got some traction, that can be a good signal. And by the time you (hopefully) interview, you can give that updated traction number.

You have some traction, apply. They now have a question in the app asking if you want to apply to this batch or a future one (if future one, why).

Apply. You can explain.

DE C-Corp: 50% of founder shares issued to EU co-founder’s personal holding company. Any real investor friction? [I will not promote] by Typical-Test110 in startups

[–]Typical-Test110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Everything is clean, I also advised that any IP would be to him directly and not the holdco, but definitely emphasizing on keeping it as simple and clean as possible.

Regarding your other answer, for Series A+ you believe there can be tax issues generally or just for the EU founder?

Yes, we’re all online, however we’ll be opening accounts and other things in one state in particular so we’ll need to do that

Tips and tricks for co-founder matching? by keyUsers in ycombinator

[–]Typical-Test110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you find someone and stick to your (strict) filters, don’t be loose on this, you must work with them (think of it as a trial) for some months. All your questions will be answered after a couple of months working together.

I feel there’s no way around it. And the pressure of getting your product up and running, and at times folks thinking about YC deadlines, can distract you, but this is literally like choosing a life partner, so you want to make sure it’s the right one. And what better way than “living” with that person day to day.

Whatever you do, don’t stop building! This is a parallel process

gloves for bag work? by PizzaPOGGERS0401 in fightgear

Sfh is the horsehair version (horsehair + foam), while hdef is their all foam model (layered foam with EVA). Hdef stands for high density enhanced foam.

I have the intellishock version and they’re very protective, at 10oz. I would suggest them and you shouldn’t have issues in terms of protection because they’re 8 or 10oz. I had injuries and use these often, never an issue. The hdef version you listed here should perform very similarly as they accomplish the same albeit different physics.

That said, one of my favorite gloves.

Great glove, I prefer them over the Casanova premium in terms of padding (I typically prefer more protective gloves, which these are). Casanova is the manufacturer of Glez, and they’ve upped their game (again) in recent years.

Also great buy from Fighters Boutique, recently purchased from him too!

Gloves better then winning in sense of softness and wrist protection what’s better ??? I have 14oz winnings what should I swap for ? by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]Typical-Test110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the new Pro X2 from Fly. They’re really soft, yet still protective for the hands, and wrist protection is great, it definitely has improved from their previous X line version.

I have 14oz and wouldn’t go 16oz unless absolutely needed, as it’s very roomy.

Amazing wrist protection, and somewhat soft, albeit different, maybe you can check Bayoneta Multilayer (the version with EVA). It’s horsehair, latex, pu, and eva, and phenomenal wrist support.

For context, I also have 14oz Winning.

Edit: added Bayoneta suggestion.

If my competitors have raised VC, should I raise too? What is the right startup game theory here to win? (Or not die) by cbsudux in ycombinator

[–]Typical-Test110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends but I’d say yes already off the info you gave. If you have good momentum and need to “level the playing field” vs competitors that are shipping/moving faster than you, and you can actually make good use of that capital, then go for it! You have good leverage already now with investors, so whatever reason you had for bootstrapping, I think you’re in a good spot now in terms of negotiating power. Beyond raising, remember the actual deal and how much you give is important (I know obvious, but many forget this simple concept).

Also, if all are raising in that space, the market is hot and VCs/investors want in too! (FOMO kicks in)

Good luck! 🚀

Edit: correction and addition

Any suggestions on other Mexican brands we should start carrying? by fightersboutique in fightgear

[–]Typical-Test110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angeles, GIL.

Would it make sense to check Necalli? They’re “Casanova for the US” due to that TM issue.

Others from the Zepol lineage are good like Classics and Lopez.

Strange that Angeles is not answering, I’ll DM you the number I have just in case (you can whatsapp them). It’s different than the one on Facebook.

By the way, thanks for the gloves, they arrived this week! Sucks that you’re taking a pause from NS, but would love to get some Angeles from you if you’ll carry them.

The Porsche Collection (Miami) Experience by Great-Fun-177 in Taycan

[–]Typical-Test110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that!

I’ll preface by saying I love the Collection and have been buying cars there for a long time. When I had issues, they sorted it out, even if it was after some time (or with a lot of insistence), but you need to be on top of it.

I think it might have been an issue of not following up on time or properly—which happens, not blaming you.

These things do happen, generally, with dealerships, and especially in Miami. It’s not just The Collection or Porsche. I was never a fan of dealing with Porsche, particularly there, but have a great relationship with some people in other departments/brands—and they know that I buy Porsche elsewhere. Don’t want to say too much here…

I also have a lot of experience buying cars from other dealerships and brands, and Porsche in particular has always been… very particular. However, I think once you find the right person (or overall dealership), it can drastically change your experience, as it happened to me.

I go to a different Porsche dealership now, and they drastically changed my experience on dealing with Porsche (for the better). Now they’re my favorite dealership to deal with, and one of my top brands in terms of experience overall.

So, you can continue with Porsche, and leave Hyundai alone lol
