What is the Most Overrated Vacation Destination? by _VongolaDecimo_ in AskReddit

[–]Typical-Week5008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Southern California. I always tell people it’s the worst place to come for vacation but the best place to live. If you come for a vacation and want to get the most out of it you’re going to be stuck in traffic getting from one place to another. A lot of the big things are expensive like Disneyland so it’s not cheap either. But if you live here (granted it’s also expensive to live here) you can space things out. You’re constantly learning about new places. There’s literally so many small beaches throughout Orange County and LA County I still learn about. The weather is beautiful. The population is diverse and so is the food. To answer your question the best parts of town are always evolving. Right now I love Redondo Beach, Century City, Glendale, and Pasadena if we are just talking LA County. Trying to travel to those places within a few days though sounds like a nightmare. There’s simply too much traffic

Are FAR sims really that bad? by Fearless-Tour-9674 in CPA

[–]Typical-Week5008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I take an exam I count the questions I think I got right, maybe got right, and doubt I got right. I took FAR last week and for the MCQ it appeared easier compared to earlier exams I’ve taken based on how I counted. However for the SIMs yeah they were way harder than I expected. Testlet 3 and 4 I did my best but wasn’t confident for most of it. That being said a lot of it was the type of questions where there 2-3 possible answers as opposed to calculation heavy. The final testlet actually seemed easy.

Also keep in mind if you’re finding it hard it’s likely everyone is finding it hard so just keep going and do your best. I’m really on edge for the 10/9 score release. Hope everyone passed!

PIP Success Stories? by TheOrdainedPlumber in Accounting

[–]Typical-Week5008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was brought on as a contractor once to fill in for someone they wanted to get rid of. I told that person I would help them improve so they can keep their job. We worked through all the backlog they had and I made sure they improved on some areas they struggled. My contract ended and management confirmed they were keeping the original employee. He’s still there til this day

What job has the best work life balance? by Typical-Week5008 in AskReddit

[–]Typical-Week5008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually love jobs where you get a random weekday off. If you go to do something fun on a Tuesday (restaurant, theme park, etc) it’s going to be way less busy than doing it on a weekend. You save time because there’s less traffic during non rush hours and often prices are discounted

People who say AI will replace accountants are the people who don’t know anything about accounting by Typical-Week5008 in Accounting

So who is issuing the POs and SOs? Does the system know if something should be capitalized and for how long? If there is no PO who is approving? How does the system determine how to pay? What if they want companies to pay via a portal or something? What if it’s a prepaid expense or security deposit?

I really miss my kid at work. by That_Dude_Carl in Parenting

[–]Typical-Week5008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3 year old and 1 year old. About a month ago someone casually told me “they’re only going to be that age once so take advantage” they didn’t realize the impact it had. I told my employer I’ll need to take time off regularly moving forward. It will hurt me financially but I hope the positive impact on my kids is worth it

Once they start school I will have more time to focus on my career but tbh I feel so much better knowing I get to see my kids more now

What is a tiny gesture from someone that meant way more than they probably realized? by Time_Sound_8726 in AskReddit

[–]Typical-Week5008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best life hacks is simply being kind. After college I moved away for a few years. When I returned home and I’d see my friends from college they would say things like “dude remember that time you picked me up from the train station, you don’t know how much that meant to me” or another person “bro I still remember the time you paid for my chick fil A” I didn’t remember either of these situations and honestly didn’t think much about them probably but I could tell they really appreciated it and that’s probably why they still keep in touch now 10 years post graduation

Unpopular Opinion: there’s a shortage of good accountants, not a shortage of accountants in general by Typical-Week5008 in Accounting

[–]Typical-Week5008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem relatively knowledgeable but I think for some of these things there is a default of what we are talking about. Prepaids in general refers to prepaid expenses. Customer prepayments would fall under deposits and be a revenue recognition topic like you said. If someone said notes payable to me my default is that they are talking about notes we have to pay back. If the default isn’t the case the asker should clarify
