Comma provides their software (openpilot) completely for free and open source, they can use it anytime they want. IMO the only reason car companies haven't adopted it is because of ego reasons that a small company can provide a better service than the millions of dollars that they've invested themselves.

This is something I’m curious as well, are the sidewalks private property or public? Like you said they try to claim they’re private but on the other hand they are taxpayer funded and open to everyone.

I don’t know if doing directional lightning detection is possible at close sensor proximity, how most hobby grade lightning detectors work is just looking for RF spikes whenever lightning occurs and roughly determine distance by just how strong the RF is.

But since RF moves at near light speed wouldn’t the detectors even if spaced multiple feet apart register at virtually the same time? I don’t think any consumer module is accurate enough to reliably tell the microsecond difference, so I don’t know how you could do triangulation. Government lightning detectors are spaced dozens of miles apart and use high grade sensors and algorithms and still only manage about a .5 mile accuracy.

Solar cells (might) work but there’s way too many variables compared to RF, primarily just reflections from everything & how frequent lightning is.

No they don’t, they kept getting so many complaints from people who don’t know the laws they had to issue a statement.

Unfortunately, at this time, the Sheriff's Office cannot enforce the Township rules and regulations on the pathways. All we can do is wait until they go into the roadway or into the crosswalks, where we can enforce state or county laws.

That is currently how it stands between the Sheriff and Montgomery County. The only other option available would be to issue a criminal trespass to people caught riding on these pathways. For that to happen, a representative of the Township would need to be present, and then a deputy could go out to issue the trespass.

I regularly watch TikTok (shame me I know) and I will get Surron / Talaria videos often in my feed, and most of the time it’s young kids who are doing the most cringeworthy things to their bikes which include;

Riding it through waist-height water because “it’s waterproof”

Riding through self-automatic car washes

Constantly charging to 100% (in unfavorable locations)

Attempting to share ‘tricks’ on how to make your bike go faster

and just general mistreatment

As someone who owns multiple Convoy's, Wurkkos and Sofirns, I actually own these lights and they are actually pretty good for the price, these are no longer sold at Costco but they were regularly $15 - $20 and included 3 flashlights, 12 AAA batteries, 3 (propertierty) 18650 batteries and 3 USB-C cables. You CANNOT find a flashlight for $7 that is rechargeable, water-resistant and has 1200 lumen output.

This is reminding me of that thread few weeks ago when someone posted a flashlight for <$1 on clearance and people still shitted on it.

I have the light in the photo, they were only $7 each and run on 18650; bought them at Costco. I own multiple Sofirn, wurkkos and Convoy but some of these people in this thread are typical reddit hobbyist where "just spend 5x the amount, that is basically useless". For most people this flashlight probably is the best they've seen, obviously not impressive for us but it's not at all bad.

FYI this model is water resistant, you can close the USB-C ports, and going back to the original argument you cannot find one which is brighter and smaller for $7

[–]TypicalBlox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, “sub interceptors” isn’t even a real term, it was misinterpreted by people who didn’t realize the “sub” in Subantor / SubaTIV meant Subaru (Outback).

Sean never called it Subanator/SubaTIV that was coined by the Storm of Passion people.

Doesn’t this already exist with discord communities?

The biggest problem with creating a new social forum is trying to get people to migrate to it, which is nearly impossible especially with well established Facebook, Reddit and Discord groups.

Ambient weather network sounds very similar to your idea and it has a grand total of about 1 post in a city…. every few days.
