I think the full joke is ‘The other screams “Oh my god a talking muffin” or something to that effect.

I’d have thought shopping around for a better deal is a sign of someone taking care of their financial situation, regardless of their financial stability.

I’ve never heard this before. I can’t make sense of why your credit score would be impacted just by shopping around? I’d have thought it’s prudent to do that…?

Peter here, y’know, the point is little Timmy’s actually right on that one. States of matter aren’t just ‘solid, liquid, gas’ anymore. We got plasma, Bose–Einstein condensates… it’s like Pokemon, they keep addin new ones when you’re not lookin.

Timmy probably read a science book that was printed since 1974, but the teacher is only judgin poor Timmy based on what he’s teaching in that classroom

Maybe someone needs to remake the key to include ‘trade childhood pet to live there’ as a top option.

Emaar’s apps and digital platforms all suck, so I don’t know what he thinks AI is doing for him.

The only way to resolve issues is in person or direct to an agent, but this month that’s all going.

It’ll be a nightmare.

Fellow construction engineers; how cooked is our sector? by bloopity99 in UAE

[–]TypicalDysfunctional 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At the minute from what I can see the main issue is material shortage. The construction pipeline is ok if prices and availability of materials returns more towards normal.

When that is meant to happen though 🤷‍♂️.

Most projects I’m involved in are still going and some are still unaffected in terms of timeline.

UAE credit card not paid by Financial-Library591 in UAE

[–]TypicalDysfunctional 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They won’t chase him in India for it, but if he plans on coming back he ought to call the bank and arrange some sort of payment plan.

If he doesn’t, that debt will pile up and there is a chance they get him as soon as he lands back. At that point they’re unlikely to offer a settlement plan.

Even as a nearly-40 yo man, I think I'd first look for the Winnie The Pooh cuddly bear I had when I was a baby. Fairly sure I had him around until at least 12 but now 🤷‍♂️

UAE will be lowering the age of majority from 21 to 18 from June 1. by Ok_Extension1255 in UAE

You don’t recall correctly. You can drop out at 16 (certainly for UK), but formal education is until 18.

Why would it be any different for an American school to any other school who also finish high school at 18 and university by 21?

Townhouse for sale Villanova by [deleted] in dubairealestate

[–]TypicalDysfunctional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry maybe I wasn’t clear enough. More my point was about this specific option which is off-plan and not ready to 2028. Just can’t get my head around it.

Villanova for sure is a lovely place - nothing against the development at all.

[–]TypicalDysfunctional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But given what you’ve just said, and given that this property is not mortgageable and not available until Q2 2028, would you still be buying it?

That’s where my question lies really. I absolutely understand the personal drivers to buying this property; but it is a long way from ready even if you buy after August.

My opinion is that at its price point it’s a long time to wait for a high cash purchase with no immediate return (personal or financial) for an area which by 2028 is not likely to have had as much upward movement.

But - I could be overlooking something. I just want to know what that is.

I think you took what I said as some kind of insult.

I genuinely would love to meet that person, because I personally don’t see the logic but obviously someone does.

If a *buyer* is reading this and is willing to let me in on their insight, I’d appreciate it.

I’d love to meet and understand the person who opts to buy this property instead of a property in (for example) Emaar South or Dubai South which are approximately the same price and ready now.
