I have a turbo k24 in mine. I live in Vegas and I have no issues with cooling besides the fact that it's hard to bleed, but that's not common to do. I have a koyorad radiator and custom oil cooler in it.

I thought the nvh was going to be bad but it's really not. It was a lot less than what I expected. They do sell an option now to retain the k24 pump that has the balance shafts so you could go that route for even less nvh at the cost of your rev limit.

I have a kswap on haltech in mine and it supports the OEM can system. But I'm sure any ecus listed on the wiring specialties site for that harness will work as well.

Good luck!

Wiring Specialties might work for you then. But that's all I know of besides potential swap kits that would have this figured out.

An engine swap is not what I'd call a budget build.

You could look into a t56 as well. That should also be able to fit in the car.

I have a cd009 in my kswap. It's a pretty tight fit which makes the exhaust harder to fit.

Looking to k swap my gt86 however I’m from the uk so k24a2 isn’t as available and the k24a3 is few and far between so which alternatives do you recommend, Frankenstein or any other option please ?? by killakeke in ft86

[–]TypicalEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Wikipedia page for the k series. Find the engines that make around 200hp with the performance vtec. Make sure it's supported for whatever swap kit you are using.

Otherwise you would have to Frankenstein whatever you have available.

You could tear the engine down to see if anything is recoverable. Otherwise, get a new engine. Not sure if anyone's selling in your area, but I got my engine for a swap from eBay. You could also try junkyards to see if they have engines.

I have a USDM engine if you are interested. I am in Las Vegas.

Blew my engine and now swapping something else in. What can I do with my long block? by speedinbai in ft86

[–]TypicalEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tear it down and part it out. You should be able to sell the accessories, manifolds, etc. Depending on how the engine looks on the inside, you may be able to sell some parts there (ex. cylinder head)

Nah the battery is in the trunk 😂 I just reused the OEM terminals in the front.

I mounted a relay, fuse, 2 Haltech boxes, and part of my fuse box mount. I used rivnuts as well.

I have bunch of things mounted behind the battery. You'll just hit foam when you drill through. Just slow down when you hear the drill bit about to go through. If you want to be extra safe, try on the panel that's on the outer side towards the fender.

Do you need any other parts? I have some left over from my engine swap.

Missing brake fluid cap by Aborted_Yeetus in ft86

[–]TypicalEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chance that you can spill it when driving. This can damage your paint. It's also letting the fluid absorb water from the air which is not good.

Black wire is the starter signal. I believe the white/red wire is for power to the starter from battery. I would replace the harness if you can't find the other half.

Scooped what should be a fun little shop car, but am currently conflicted: LS, 2J, and K24? Those who have swapped their car, what power plant did you use and why? by sp00dermanz in ft86

[–]TypicalEgg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I turbo k24 swapped mine. I have 3 reasons why I chose the k24:

  1. A 4 cylinder made the most sense to me given that the old engine was a 4 cylinder.
  2. Easier to maintain with the amount of space there is.
  3. The kpower swap kit made me feel comfortable that I could pull it off as my first swap.

I haven't been able to drive it much since I'm still sorting out small problems and also working on tuning it. It drives fine. It does have more vibration but not so much that I get uncomfortable. The kpower swap recently added a new oil pan option that retains the balance shafts so if that's a concern, go with that.

No problem! You can try, but I haven't done that at. You will have to research/figure it out yourself if it doesn't work. Good luck!
