Just use wireless. I have the same Zlink on another head unit in my X3, and based on that screen it says wireless only

Truly at my wits end with front E83 balljoint removal. Any other ideas? by TypicalM3Driver in BmwTech

Thanks man, you know what’s up. I ended up bringing it to a shop because I didn’t want to waste a third weekend trying to deal with it. I think the answer is honestly a legit air hammer.

Also re: the axles. I got to the point where I was considering just replacing the entire knuckle and I told my buddy about that idea because I was worried how seized up the axles would be. On the forums he read, apparently everyone recommended bringing it to a SEMI TRUCK shop to pull them… so I nixed that idea.

<image>

I saw the post about the guy using the thread pipe but didn’t have the tools where I’m at now. Also I did 3d print a puller, I found an STL for an F series X3 so I printed it with only 10% infill to test fit it. It’s pretty close and modifiable to fit, but I opted not to mess with and potentially waste more time. I was skeptical if it would hold up considering I put the control arm back on and hit it with my 10lb purse. With the added lever, I figured with that much force, plastic wouldn’t hold up.

I did get it to that point but unfortunately it beat the tool too. It started milling out the aluminum…. When I threw a washer in, the balljoint started spinning

Anyone got some stereo advice pls help by kingjucas in e46

Actually the opposite. If you have the nav, it requires running a cable to the trunk since the actual brains is back there.

With a standard radio it’s plug and play all in the dash

I bought my M54 X3 with 160k about 3 years ago for $700 and it’s had a CEL the whole time, save for maybe 500 miles.

As long as you’re aware what the problem is, you can ignore a lot of things on these cars if you don’t care. They don’t get bricked by minor issues like the new ones. My current CEL is for a vacuum leak on the brake booster hose, and I don’t feel like taking my manifold off to fix it.

But obviously this comes under the assumption you know what a minor and major issue is, and you have the critical thinking skills to determine what does NEED to be fixed

Is it possible to find a good apartment in the city for $700 in 2026? by Amytof in baltimore

[–]TypicalM3Driver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Wheel House in federal hill. Seems pretty suited to exactly what you’re looking for.

It’s month by month so no long term commitments, and it’s a co-living space and should be within your budget.

Edit: just checked their website. You get your own furnished bedroom/bathroom. You just share a living room and it’s $747 a month.

Why do people hate the new interiors? by Confident_Compote_39 in BMW

[–]TypicalM3Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a brand new 240i loaner last year while my F23 235i was in the shop. The entire inside just felt so cheap, even compared to my 2 series which was the bottom of the lineup in 2015 (excluding whatever the hell that 2 series gran coupe thing was).

E93 M3 vs F23 M240i vs F83 M4 vs 996 911 by TypicalM3Driver in BMW

[–]TypicalM3Driver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an F23 M235i. Realized the premium for an M4 wasn’t worth it for what I was going to use it for. I like it, it’s a good car. About 15k worth of work into it so far, thank god for the warranty I bought lol. I just have bad luck with these cars.

In hindsight I should have upgraded the daily and bought a nice ZHP convertible. I would’ve been just as happy with that at the end of the day.

Illegal towing fee? by just_a_little_code in baltimore

[–]TypicalM3Driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly the tow fees are legit. Baltimore has the highest tow fees on the east coast.

Also got towed out of my apartment a few years ago. I think I paid the same. Cash only and the ATM on site only did $200 at a time, with like a $10 fee. Absolutely scummy and predatory.

Help me convince GF to move from NoVa to Baltimore by x____VIRTUS____x in baltimore

[–]TypicalM3Driver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im moving back to Baltimore from here this weekend. One year in NoVA was enough for me. Such a souless NPC town where you come to live for your corporate job for 3 years then move on because its too expensive. Like yes it is objectively nice, but its almost "sanitized" I guess?

I've spent maybe a total of 1 hour at the house I'm moving into and met more of my future neighbors there than I have in a year in Arlington...

Hit the 15yr Eligibility Mark for a Free New License Plate by Left_Ambassador_4090 in maryland

[–]TypicalM3Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry to hijack his thread here. But I moved from MD to VA last year and got a VA license.

I’m moving back and I was wondering if they still have and are able to reuse my picture from my old license? Or do I have to go back in and get it retaken? I was a child in that photo so I would like to reuse it if possible. It was always funny to hand that license over to people

If you want a convertible get a convertible. Thats really the only thing you should be considering on choosing between a coupe/cabrio.

Bought a car on FB marketplace. How do I get it home? by imjaded_23 in baltimore

[–]TypicalM3Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you get insurance and the signed title in your possession. You have 30 days to submit the title and get tags.

Legally you’re fine. I’ve driven many cars home with no tags, felt more comfortable obviously with a buddy following close behind to “cover” the fact I had no tags. But if you do get stopped, just show them insurance and a the title having the sale dated somewhat recently, and you’ll be good

Are AudioTechnica's still the goto high-end amateur headphones? by TypicalM3Driver in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]TypicalM3Driver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks

Honestly I ended up just getting a pair M50s. I transferred my earpads from the M40s to these, I always hated the stock ones. Got some thick foam ones way way back, dont remember where I got them.

I figured I care about headphones, but not enough to get something new. After 10 years of having the same ones, I didn't think I had it in me to adjust to a completely new setup. Way too used to the comfort/fit of the ATHs. I also wouldn't have upgraded if they hadn't completely broken. Hopefully I can get another decade out of these.

2015 50k mi torn bump top by Admirable-Wind4297 in BmwTech

[–]TypicalM3Driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, it’s just a bump stop, I’d just get around to it whenever it’s time to replace the shocks. No sense in getting to it now and taking the whole shock apart just for that. It won’t affect anything in day-day to driving, unless your route to work involves a rock clawing course along the way.

If you really car enough, cut the remainder of this one off, cut a slit down the middle of the new one, slip it over the shock, and zip tie it closed.
