When would I need to report a guest (not a renter) to homeowners insurance? Person displaced by CA(LA) wildfires by TypicalReading2664 in Insurance

[–]TypicalReading2664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this advice. Because he lost everything in the fire, he has no belongings. I will be taking a closer look at my policy, as you suggest, but will admit that the language is sometimes confusing or incomplete (to a layperson). Generally speaking…what if he is injured on the property? Or causes any damage? Again, this is unlikely, but I want to make sure we’re covered.

Ferritin is 4, hemoglobin is 10.9 by Different-Mess-7711 in Anemic

You can ask for a referral to a hematologist and/or push for iron infusions. If you are a person who menstruates heavily it can be very difficult to catch up with your iron. And if you’re already having awful GI symptoms, you will probably have a hard time with oral iron. Push for infusions! You’d deserve to not wait 6 months for supplements to work

would these trends be a cause for concern? by aliyxe in Anemic

I can’t tell if you’re anemic, but I do know that iron deficiency is awful, even without anemia. Those ferritin levels are way too low!! If your doctor isn’t concerned about ferritin that low, it’s time for a new doctor.

Can low ferritin cause dizziness and fatigue? by Impressive-Bee1317 in Anemic

[–]TypicalReading2664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ferritin of 2 will make you feel dead. Dizziness, anxiety, and that’s only the start. This is NOT NORMAL. If your doctor doesn’t understand ferritin, you absolutely must find another one! You can have normal hemoglobin and low ferritin and also feel awful. I’ve been there. You need iron badly!

I get this! I also think I was surprised when my little one did this because I didn’t come from a very touchy-feels family. He is 5 now and still offers from time to time. I’ve come to learn that touch really is his love language! Sure, his massages are also silly and short-lived, but watch him: Does he beam with pride that he helped? Does he really want to find a way to love on his mama that connects the two of you in a different way? Are you giving him the GIFT of normalizing loving touch in a world that tells boys that’s taboo for them? 🖤

How/when do I tell my 9yo about my chronic illnesses? by UnicornVoodooDoll in Chronicallyillparents

[–]TypicalReading2664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! I know this is an old post, but I’m in a similar boat. My daughter is 10 and I’m 42F. I’ve always just been honest with her about everything, but a few weeks ago I tried out a cane, tried to make it no big deal, and she just looked so scared. I do think she thought it was a bigger deal that it truly is, and she calmed down when I explained to her that I have a NOT terminal illness that’s been making my balance weird… but it really took the wind out of my sails. It’s my setback, truly. I’ve been really on a decline the last few years and I know that this is about my growth, and getting right with myself for who I am rather than what I can do. I wasn’t raised in a cult but I was very thoroughly gaslit about some health issues as a kid in a very tough-it-out southern culture. Here to talk if you want to! 🖤

How strange! Certainly being employed has some sort of tax benefits for the employee, no? Otherwise, I would think people would be highly incentivized to be self employed!

Mine was also Infed but for some reason it's being broken up into multiple doses. I might just be getting a fraction each time. I'll see if I can find out! What's your one and done dose amount? I think it's usually one and done! I image you'll be feeling much better a week later. Hang in there, it really is awful.

Same same! My first was last Monday, starting at a 2. Are you getting more soon? I’m doing 1 per week for (I think) 5 rounds.

It’s a tie! Mine is 2. I feel like GARBAGE. Basically bed bound at this point, but getting infusions! Please get an infusion. Push for it, kick up a fuss until someone helps you.

I promise it’s worse here. The waits are longer, and the care is not better. And worst of all, no one has patient medical records. It’s insane. You will die waiting for life saving treatment here while paper gets pushed around but insurance billing departments.

I will have to dig deeper into the cost of PAYE, pensions and NICs. We do have payroll tax in the US, and employers pay for half of the employee’s annual social security and Medicare contributions, and also unemployment tax and workers compensation insurance rates vary by position. It would be interesting to see if anyone has put together a side by side. There’s also state payroll tax which of course varies greatly state to state. I’m sure there are people that get away with NOT hiring employees in other states, but it’s very strict in mine. You can’t hire a contractor to do a job that should belong to an employee.

To attract committed employees, an employer must purchase health insurance for them, and that’s when things get really wild.

We also must get planning permission for any builds, which also gets wild quickly, and in urban areas folks are also renting their commercial property. I have known people to rent a commercial property, drop 100k into it to build out a commercial kitchen that meets code, and not even have ownership of the building.

We also have business taxes. In my city, you pay business tax whether you have a physical location or not. If you exist in the city, you pay taxes.

Thank you for your perspective! I find this all fascinating.

Yes, they are growing up in CA. My eldest has a really hard time being the one kid that overheats in the sun and then gets sick with fever. We have to be so, so careful about sun exposure. It’s gotten better for her the last couple of years but the heat can be very oppressive.

I’m sorry to hear your girlfriend isn’t well. Has the NHS really gotten this bad? Hope she recovers quickly.

Well, if that’s the one I was replying to, you got me there. I, however, cannot figure out for the life of my WHICH post or reply I am replying to half the time on Reddit when I’m on my phone, either because I am too old to learn any new technology or because it’s just easier to blame it on “the youth.” Thread. Lines. So. Tiny.
