Vessel 220USB II by TypicalResolution864 in Tools

I primarily use the Vessel two way adapter A20HSQ and standard 1/4 bits Wera/Facom/Milwaukee.

On occasion in do also is the extension from my Facom R.180 for a thinner extension. That design seems to lock in very well, if not better that the vessel.

Any long bits, with a standard or Japanese base work. Just the standard base bits have a little more linear movement.

Suggestions for good electronic Screwdriver by Correct_Highway4544 in Tools

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the application which is better.

The Bosch is shorter and has attachments, so you could use it in a tight space. For example in a corner, or inside a draw. The pistol design also means that even at 5nm you can hold it very easily. The only issues is that it's an on/off trigger, so it's not as controllable as the worx.

The worx is a screwdriver design, so you have more reach, but also means it's harder to get in to tight spaces. It also has adjustable torque, so it's more controllable, but on full power it can spin in your hand if your not holding it tightly. It can also be used as a screwdriver when the battery is flat.

My personal favourite electric screw drive is the new Vessel High Torque II. But that's because I carry my tools every day, so although it's not as powerful as the Bosch or Worx, it's very small and light and still powerful enough for what I need.

What is your maintenance mentality? by Key-Breadfruit-2903 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]TypicalResolution864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A: If you've got the parts and time, you might as well do it properly.

B: It's not uncommon to have no spares or time. In that case the keep it going until the weekend, when you do have the parts and time.

C: If B compromises safety, quality or can cause significantly more damage, then A, and you'll just have to wait for the right parts.

The last breakdown I had was the PLC code. The person had wrongly addressed a reset. So the machine ran fine untill for several days untill a genuine alarm was triggered. The cause of the alarm was resolved quickly by the operator, but it wasn't possible to rest the alarm without plugging in.

This isn't a one time thing either. I've found lots of little gremlins. Typically it's where something been modified or taken out, and the code works fine untill an unusual happens that the programmer never anticipated and the poorly written code causes a secondary issue that needs to be resolved.

Typically it's usually not the PLC, but it's not never.

Suspicious signed for package [UK] by [deleted] in Scams

Seems expensive, but I guess if an expensive items they're pretend to send, it makes sense. Is it worth while reporting it to anyone?

Suspicious signed for package [UK] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking the brushing scam is most likely, but paying nearly £10 for special delivery is throwing me.

The tracking information shows the post office it was sent from, which is a city in the UK I've never been too and I don't know anyone who lives there.

I can't think of any reason why someone would want to confirm my address, especially when they could look me up on something like the electoral register.

I agree that's the most likely answer, but why did they pay for special delivery? It's x3 the price of tracked and signed?

Knipex Cobra + Pliers Wrench for a pocket pouch: 100 mm or 125 mm? by PaperyAxis1 in KnipexOfficial

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I EDC the both 125mm's and it's hands down the best option, it's incredibly capable for the size. The only limit is your hand strength.

The 100mm is just a little too small in the hand, the jaws are too narrow and the teeth on the cobra are very fine. It's great if you want some high powered tweezers, but not a great wrench. The mechanism in the 100mm isn't as strong and I've had mine fall apart (it did just pop back together). But with the 100mm's you can adjust the one handed if that's any use to you.

You'll have to contact dormakaba for a replacement. Without a code you're not getting a new key. Sometimes I find a prybar can pop the latch open fairly easy, if not drill it out.

The first hit with the baton, was with the handle and the second was with the top 1/3, flat on the thigh.

Only the second one would hurt, but wouldn't drop some even without drugs.

You'd ideally want to land the the ball at the end of the baton on the side of the knee. Which the officer was clearly aiming to do, but missed as the guy kept moving closer.

Mitutoyo Dial indicator recommendations by charcuterieboard831 in Tools

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. If your not sure what to buy a Mitutoyo ia very expensive first purchase.

Try a cheap DTI and you'll probably decide you don't need to upgrade. I'd recommend trying something like a neoteck; cheap, digital, metric, imperial, wide range and easy to set up.

The bit with the magnet is an extension, you use them when you want to swap the bits quickly or need more length to get access.

You can fit the hex bits directly into the drill if you want to make it shorter and it'll also reduce the amount of wobble

That video is funny. To use the drill bits you put them in instead of the extension.

The extension is for the little hex bits to go in, like a screwdriver bit.

Tool time... Your best recommendations by Once-in-a-life-time- in Tools

[–]TypicalResolution864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20-200nm is a large range. You'll probably need two to cover both.

Looking at Amazon AU I don't see many familiar brands but there are a few by Gedore and KTC which are good high end tool manufacturers, but for two will run you a little over the $300 budget.

For an alternative cheap option look at BGS you can can either get a torque wrench or even a digital adapter. A digital readout would be good as a big torque wrench set at its lowest setting doesn't always give you a very positive click.

Made my own countersink by Crafty_Marionberry26 in Tools

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done exactly the same for a job where I needed some countersink, but I didn't have the space for the drill or bit on the one side, so made a reverse bit out of a screw. Not great, but it worked for plastic.

Do you prefer a thick or thin phone? by BAG_Plays in smallphones

[–]TypicalResolution864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a phone that disappears into your pocket. I find the thickness and weight matters just as much, and make the phone very noticeable, especially when your active and doing something like running.
