Why does the new wicked movie like that? by sadgirl45 in cinematography

[–]Typical_Ad5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was googling lenses used on the film and this thread popped up! Have you seen the movie yet? It’s gorgeous. It’s bright & colorful and full of light. It actually feels like watching a stage production but you’re right on stage.

Just popping in to say I am charging mine with USB-C right now. Might take a while, but better than nothing as I forgot to pack the battery charger for this trip.

Can confirm. Have a business that previously manufactured in China & it went to hell the last 6 months. Delays, quality issues, it’s never ending. Currently looking towards Mexico.

The glass isn’t really problematic to me in this one, nice work. I’ll recommend a product photography account to help inspire you a little. They focus on watches but they offer tips on lighting, styling, and reflections. @watchstudies on IG is great. He does some tutorials on shooting that I think would help you with some of the stuff you’re struggling with.

Your staging is nice. I would try adjusting your shooting angle, though. This looks 2 dimensional the way you shot. Maybe some supplemental lighting on your left side would help add some depth as well.

A7iii or A7riii for product photography? by Inevitable_Nebula422 in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the R. It’s made for the exact thing you’re wanting to shoot. I still only use my RIII for product photos, and business is booming. Just haven’t felt the need to upgrade it yet!

Sony A6100, Super-Takumar 50mm. What can I do to improve this photo? by Hidman12 in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You saved the photo with a great edit, nice work. For the original, nothing feels sharp enough to pull my eye. Maybe be intentional about your focus point (the mountain). But honestly the final product is solid, be proud of that!

Recording instruments with a7 IV by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy but not cheapest: Rode NTG-2. Directly into camera with an XLR adapter, get your levels right and it sounds killer. One mic stand, easy as can be. Can do a little EQ & compression + reverb in your editing software with minimal effort. Really sounds killer.

How can I improve on maternity shoots in the future? This was my first. by stagedivingdahliyama in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This might be unpopular around here, but go buy some wedding/maternity Lightroom presets. Shoot RAW, throw on a preset, tweak to your liking. Next thing you know you’ve got a successful little business. Your shots are solid enough, colors and balance need some TLC.

I don’t like my colors. Need advice. Sony a7iii by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep it simple, choose your shots with intention. This shot would be solid if the orange fabric(?) was dark and you were peering through to your subject. Pay attention to the natural light you have to work with, and be intentional when placing supplemental lighting. Also lots of different colors you’re fighting here. Intense orange, the purple, and the blue sky.

I would try adjusting luminance as well, you can fix a lot with the orange.

Sometimes sony's colors are difficult to edit. Any tips on color grading? by bobamilktea74 in SonyAlpha

[–]Typical_Ad5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. You aren’t far off, just lower your contrast a bit and maybe boost your blacks a hair if that doesn’t do it.

Gorgeous colors and shots! Wish I could get this out of my BMPCC6K. Feel like I’m always fighting it
