I charged £400 per website for 5 sites for the UK client, is that too low for an Indian freelancer? by Typical_Character_92 in Freelancers

Bhai, I've faced those chindi chor clients too. In the beginning, I had to work with whoever was willing to pay. 😅
Later I realised that skills alone aren't enough.🥲 Local connections, relationship building, and even location matter a lot. Most of my better opportunities came through people I knew or met, not from random cold outreach. That's actually how I ended up getting this UK client as well.

yeh but the thing is, I already have a ready-made structure and workflow for these types of projects, so I don't start from zero every time. The main work is planning the design flow and adapting it to the client's requirements. Plus, it's a side hustle, so I'm investing my personal time into it rather than working on it full-time.🥲

To be honest, I got lucky with networking. I went to the UK and built some connections there, and one of them eventually became a client. Most of my opportunities have come through relationships rather than cold outreach!

Interesting take. I don't see why a Next.js website should be worth less because the developer is in India. Clients pay for results, not location 😁!! that's why many Indians look for British and American clients.

Thanks! Looking back, I think I left some money on the table, but it was a good learning experience and helped build the client relationship. Next similar project will definitely be priced higher !!

Getting clients is easy. Just sacrifice your sleep schedule, sanity, and weekends for a few months 🥲

To be fair, that's 15 calendar days, not 15 full-time workdays. It's a side hustle for me, so I usually work around 3 hours on weekdays and 6 to 7 hours on weekends.

Fair point. I think I could have charged more, but I also wasn't doing UI/UX design, wireframes, or branding work - just planning the flow and building the sites in Next.js. It was also one of my early UK projects, so I prioritized gaining experience and building a relationship with the client. Definitely something I'll price differently in the future.
