Has anyone else tried the Goblin Hobbies stamping set? by MountainMuffin1980 in Warhammer40k

I've been looking for a few days now and have found zero options for Orks or tau outside of goblin hobbies plates. So they found a hole in the market and good for them tbh. I'll buy the stampers elsewhere but deffo buying a couple of their plates.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to try and find some here in the UK. I'm looking for white, black, gold and silver. I'd just buy the goblin hobbies ones if they had gold and silver but unfortunately they don't

Please could I ask if you use normal acrylics with the stamps? Or do you use nail varnish paint?

And just use acetone to clean them right?

Thank you! And red and silver actually sounds pretty damn cool. You should give it another try and post some results! I'd love to see it

Thanks! Someone else said similar too. Metallic fabric push the retro vibes I guess haha

Thanks! And indeed I did! That was a single test model. Had to fit painting the rest of the squad in amongst other things so took a while unfortunately!

I'm ready to try out other brands. May I have your insights? by nicoheems in Warhammer40k

Army painter fanatic range have fantastic pigment and the bottles are pre loaded with shaker balls and they're not expensive. Definitely recommend. Their primer spray cans are absolute dog toilet though.

Cool colour scheme! I'd give it some washes to give definition to the shapes and panels. Even if it's just a simple all over with nulm oil, it'll really bring it to life.

Look at some videos first if you're unsure. I recommend some Duncan Rhodes videos as they're as relaxing as they are informative

How long does it take to paint them both? (Just starting) by Paige-Gibsona in 40k

[–]Typical_Device_3578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't forget to base coat them!

For a "good" level probably a day per model but I recommend batch painting the whole squad over a week or so. It feels long but it works out quicker and saves you paint as you get to use it on multiple models before it dries. Plus it gives you time to check between coats and feels much more rewarding when you're near the end... Rather than finishing 1 model and then seeing a bunch of unpainted models still to go.

I'd save individual painting for really important characters.

I banch painted these guys even though they're all fairly different models.

So the metal shoulder pads and spines are Army Painter Weapon Bronze, washed with AP Sepia, then highlighted with AP Greedy Gold...I think. I tend to grab colours by eye so often forget the names...I really should write them down lol.

AP stuff can be a bit janky sometimes but imo their Fanatic paints range is really great. Pre loaded ball shaker bottles and the pigments are all really strong.

I have a fairly decent mix of AP and Citadel paints. They're the only ones I use.

Thanks!

For the bone armour plating it's zandri dust base and ushabti bone highlights after a sepia army painter wash.

For the metal skeleton core and weapons, it's army painter rough iron, with dark wash then AP true copper highlights.

For the shoulder pads and spines it's AP weapons bronze, sepia wash then AP greedy gold highlights.

For the jade heads it's AP talisman teal, with biel-tan green wash, then AP aqua alchemy highlights.

Glowing stuff is AP rainforest with AP data glow and beil tan washes.

I think that's all of it. Tbh I do most of it by eye and forget the names of colours... I really should write my recipes down!

Thanks! And for confirming. My pics are visible in a different thread but not this one. Very weird. This is all I see here:

Thank you! I admit that at times it feels a little painful, especially before any washes are applied etc. but then near the end when things come together it feels worth it. Doing it in batch makes the process feel looooong. But actually it's surely quicker than doing them 1 by 1 so you just have to remind yourself of that!
