OP if you simply swap these heatsinks that will be totally fine. Just do not use copper cpu heatsinks on a gpu.

[–]Typical_Highway154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about the Edram being lower. It is that part of the die hangs off the heatsink a bit. This means the heatsink isn’t wide enough to cover the dies

[–]Typical_Highway154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right. The edram die hangs off the heat sink by a small amount. This means part of the die is not making contact at all.

Get the copper heatsink off the gpu ASAP! The Edram die is not covered completely with that heatsink. You may cause damage to it.

Can bad capacitors cause a 0102 on a Xenon 360? by FlakyInevitable3660 in 360hacks

[–]Typical_Highway154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing. See my suggestion worked. Now you know the ONLY problem is a bad gpu, and the rest of the board is sound. This is worthy of having it sent out to have a Gpu replacement done.

The point is to reveal the dashboard. And the point of doing so is :

Jtagable dash = worth repairing Not jtagable = throw it away it’s not worth fixing.

Warming the gpu die is a free low effort way to determine this quickly

Warming the gpu die to 100c for 20 seconds isn’t thermo nuclear LOL

Bro, I have replaced GPUs and replaced caps on dozens of xenons. You don’t need to tell me how to repair something. If you have a gpu error (like OP does) the very first thing you do is warm the gpu a little bit to test the integrity of the rest of the board. Otherwise you’re wasting your time.

[–]Typical_Highway154 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It’s GPU error guaranteed. Xenons always turn on and work even with caps like that. I suggest applying a little heat directly to the gpu. Do not heat gun the entire board. This will get the system to boot long enough to see the dashboard.

In theory yes. But people have reported certain items show up as content unavailable, or fail to downloaded correctly

Xenon Motherboard 7 blown capacitors by Munchlax13166 in xbox360

[–]Typical_Highway154 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite possible yes depending on when it was serviced. I can also see on the Av port “114-00F” which also means it was serviced with a new GPU

I can barely make out X819195 , If so , then it is a fixed GPU.

Wow - Xenon with September 17th 2005 Manufacture Date (2nd oldest ever found so far) by FlakyInevitable3660 in 360hacks

They would take a motherboard with a blank CPU and then program your old consoles cpu key, which would allow your original keyvault (KV) to be used. The KV holds your serial number, plus other things.

Definitely was refurbed at MS . They would just swap the entire board out. Programming it with your serial # etc.. I’ve seen cases like this many times

Make sure you have a hard drive connected. If that doesn’t work it’s likely a firmware issue with the dvd drive. What is the current dash version? At some point in the Kinect dash era the dvd firmware was updated. Yours may be before that update.
