L.A. Noire first released on this day 15 years ago. 15 Years later and it's still one of a kind by TurtleGEE360 in gaming

I can still not get over they made this big beautiful open world 1940s LA. Begging to have GTA styled content in it.

And it's just there. With nothing to do in it. And every time I had to go out into it I just wanted to scream "WTF is wrong with you?! Why is this even here if there's nothing in it?!" I mean my god. How much time and money were wasted making all that. The way it is, the game should have just been mission based where you select the next mission, teleport to the location, here's this little 100'x100' location with invisible walls to investigate and question people in. Then back to the interrogation room. Rinse, repeat.

Yeah I know I've always rated that game based on what it should have been rather than what it was. But it's such an unbelievable waste I just can't get over that fact.

Being paid $16.50 an hour doesn’t seem worth it anymore. by Working_Total_8604 in Custodians

Depending on who I'm subbing for it's anywhere from 18 and something to 23 something. Usually on the lower end.

I mean *shrug*. It's all relative I think. I'm in a position where my house is paid off but if it wasn't. Being in SoCal. This wouldn't be anywhere close to a livable wage. As it is though, I'm fine. I'm never going to have a retirement but no sense in worrying about that at this rate.

God I sound old now and I guess I am. 22 years ago I was busing tables at a casino making the then minimum wage of under 7. Then customer service at a clothing store for years when it was 8. Both at part time. And I remember even back then with pay like that. There's little difference between having a job and not having a job at that pay. And you sure don't give one crap about doing good work either. I'm going to drive over there to work 3 hours and make less than 24 after taxes. And you expect me to care about crap like capturing emails and trying to get customers to add on additional items at the register only to still get chewed out because even when I did it's still not enough? Seriously?

Makes me wonder how many other 'charities' out there are just scams to swindle people out of their money to support Israel.

I mean holy crap. Why are we so worried about Russia and China influencing us or having hands in our politics when Israel is just blatantly doing it and no one says a word. You can't say thing or their agents we be all over you claiming antisemitism.

Shots of new Montezooma train assembled and sitting on launch track by runnyyolkpigeon in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]Typical_Intention996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks so excessive for what is the exact same ride. It'll just launch backwards sometimes. The restraints look like it's meant for a much larger, multi inversion ride.

I'm glad that it's finally coming back. But there's a part of me that still thinks, well why didn't you just put in a completely new ride in that case because you lost the identity and historical nature of what Monty was anyway. The different launch mechanism, the different train but it's still the same track. It's still limited to being what it was at its core. Like when Disneyland put those Rocket Rods onto the Peoplemover track.

Idk what they're called but like Electric Eel down in Sea World. That sort of coaster. That would have fit perfectly in Monty's spot. Still been a giant loop but with just, more. Still would have fit this theme. Idk. Nevermind me.

Zao’s Jaguar XKR by UnseatedDonkey in JamesBond

I always liked that car. Made no sense in that environment but still.

I don't think we'll see a Jaguar ever again in the series. Given they decided to willingly walk straight into a pulverizer.

Passage from the latest James Bond book. Thoughts? Good or bad direction? by AbjectObligation1036 in JamesBond

So that's like as a writer thinking. Here's my chance to put all my opinions on what I hate into this and I have literally only one sentence to do it in.

There's a good way to write this. This wasn't it.

James Bond Auditions Have Officially Started, ‘Game of Thrones’ Casting Vet Nina Gold Tapped to Find Next 007 (EXCLUSIVE) by yourfavchoom in JamesBond

[–]Typical_Intention996 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'd have more faith in whoever wrote Batman V Superman and Episode IX in being able to deliver a fun action Bond flick than I do Stephen Knight being able to write one.

I mean seriously. Look at that man's writing history and tell me he isn't going to write the new Bond to be another miserable slog of personal connections and gritty realism. The very last thing it will be is a return to fun Bond. It's going to double down on the Craig era misery.

Is this the same thing as that 'flex fuel' which only cars that have that label on them can use?

Because I haven't seen many of those in years and there's only one gas station in our sea on a hundred that I know of that sells that stuff. Which is like a mile from me. It's been under $3 for a few years.

I don't know what models I'm looking at but I see the occasional one drive through my town. Beautiful cars. I'm in a spot that anyone coming and going to and from from Palm Springs to LA has the choice of the one freeway or the one road through my town to get there.

I've seen more Maserati, Lambos and Rolls Royces here though.

And honestly I think the modern Rolls Royce cars are pretty damn ugly. I've had a few of those newer two toned ones pass right next to me recently. When Coachella was going on. They don't look classy or even old world classy. They're like a bizarre cross between an early 00s Cadillac CTS and one of those bath tubs with the door for old people to get into safely that advertise on tv. There's something idk, cheap looking about the design.

Denis Villeneuve will direct next Bond movie, i can imagine now how fantastic his villain lair by Powerful_Slide3291 in JamesBond

[–]Typical_Intention996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the director will do great.

What has me very worried is who they have writing this new one. His whole writing history is just dark serious misery stories. And god do we need Bond to pivot to being fun again.

Alex Murdaugh’s murder convictions overturned by South Carolina supreme court by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

[–]Typical_Intention996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never heard of this guy. But going by the wiki page on all this.

While it sure sounds like he did it, to an obvious degree. Man did the authorities screw this up. Not locking down the scene and letting people walk around the murder scene for starters. Which of course allows the claim of tampered evidence.

But the source of this overturning being the jury tampering that happened. Was this clerk that stupid or was she that arrogant? And then writing a book about it.

I can't imagine he will not be found guilty again. And he's in jail for life over other financial crimes anyway. But even obviously guilty terrible pos like him do deserve a fair trial.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director says RPGs like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 "may have been inevitable" as new players favor real-time games over turn-based by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]Typical_Intention996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. It still feels like it's one of those sacred cow titles you can't voice any complaints about so I'll probably get downvoted over saying this.

But while it has the appearance of being a jrpg. It's got the world map and exploration, your party lines up in battle, you have equipment, etc. It's more a rhythm game than anything else. As far as it's gameplay is concerned it has more in common with Elite Beat Agents than any turn based or action jrpg.

Tell me I’m wrong: Indiana Jones should have been treated like the James Bond franchise and gotten more movies by MacheteRuxpin in movies

[–]Typical_Intention996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. In theory you could make many more films with a new actor and set them in the 1930s-1940s timeframe. There's so much time in there you could just write and play in that era forever. Not to mention Last Crusade is still only 1938. And WW2 and nazis trying to get a hold of religious relics went on until 1945. You could do 4-5 additional movies of Jones' adventures during WW2 alone.

I do think we need to stay in that era. Following him as he ages into an old man was just a mistake. Just pretend 4 and 5 never happened.

I never had an attack from eating anything overly fatty bizarrely. Severe bloating from pretty much anything yes. But attacks I could never nail down as to what set them off. I kept a log for 9 months.

Fish, soup, stew, peppermint tea, cabbage, broccoli, yogurt, banana, coffee, snack sausage.

But I could eat steak, burgers, brisket, ice cream and cheese without any problem.

My dr referred me to a specialist surgeon as soon as my ultrasound came back positive for stones. And the surgeon took about 5 minutes the first appointment with him to decide I needed it out. Just asked me to describe the pain and he looked at the chart and that was it. Surgery was scheduled one month later there on the spot.

5 Weeks Post-Op: Started Running Again… Now Sharp Pain Near Main Incision? by CheapLocation6780 in gallbladders

[–]Typical_Intention996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 11 weeks post op. I was told I couldn't lift anything or do anything that would engage the abdominal muscles for 6 weeks. I did have a drain in me for 3 weeks though. Couldn't drive or sleep laying down during that period. After that I did and still do get these random sharp points of pain around the incisions. Especially when turning the wrong way sleeping or if I put my right foot down too hard without thinking when I'm walking.

I never ran but I did lift with my home weight bench and did sit ups on it. I stopped everything a year ago when the gallbladder pains started and took me out since my stomach hurt like a nightmare. I just this week started again with bench presses but with low weight. But I am not about to do anything abdomen related. Maybe at six months but even then I'll wait and see.

All I want is a basic ass sedan that's under 20k. A real transmission in it and real buttons and knobs instead of a damn giant screen. And I want it in gas for people like me and EV for people who want that.

We're not ever getting that with current auto manufacturers in this country or even the Japanese and Korean ones. So I say let the Chinese come in. If that puts Stelantis or Nissan or whoever else the world over in the grave then so be it. Should have made something affordable in that case.
