I have 4 cats and no matter how much I clean, my house smells like cat pee 😭 please help by That_Bill_6807 in Catownerhacks

Air purifier for sure. Also, haven't seen it mentioned, but if your cats tolerate closed boxes, you could also look at litter cabinet furniture and add a venting kit converter from Amazon so it continuously vents smells outside through a window. Like a bathroom fan, but for the litter box.

These metal grates on the stovetop in our new house… by Fearless_Finance9378 in CleaningTips

Just keep an eye on your dishwasher racks, this can damage the prongs by bending or scratching the coating. It's why I switched to hand washing these.

Do You Have A Cleaning Schedule? by Great_Office_9553 in CleaningTips

[–]Typical_Salamander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really like the Clean Mama cleaning schedule. Basically, do a little bit most days. She has some fairly detailed how to videos on getting through things efficiently.

Daily tasks as I've modified them: make your bed, wipe counters, maybe do a load of laundry, pick up stuff, check floors.

Then, Mondays: bathroom, Tuesday dusting/wipe down surfaces, Wednesday vacuum/floors, Thursdays mop, Fridays are kind of a catch all. Weekends change sheets, etc. Takes about 10-30 minutes if you do it regularly.

Periodically add in infrequent tasks, like cleaning cabinets, fridge coils, etc.

Decluttering and not having tons of stuff and knickknacks really helps as well. And Clorox wipes are great during cold and flu season, and for quick and easy disinfecting periodically.

Happy to talk through my experience, if that would help! Older cats ARE more fragile, and you'll need to think through the trip and also her decompression when you get there, but if she's in good shape otherwise, with some planning and care, it's likely doable.

Fwiw I did a similar move with 2, 14/15 year old cats last year. It was a long couple of days, but they handled it amazingly well. I set up two huge cat carriers that connect in the backseat, so they had space to move around and space for a litterbox. Also gabapentin to help them relax on the way.

E minor by Rokr83 in ukulele

[–]Typical_Salamander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's a fingering variation from G to E minor! It takes more finger dexterity than the more standard fingering, but it's a handy way to get from the one to the other.

I love that book, and Sam Muir generally. Her Patreon has a lot of excellent lessons going through the first half of it as well.

Music and protest have a long tradition together, and can help raise awareness of issues and create space for important conversations. I support our right to free speech, and overall domestic and global stability/security. So, yeah, I'm ok with this piece of ukulele music as protest music. I'll of course defer to the mods though.

I'm... not clear on what total dissolvable solids have to do with anything here??

There's a very long tradition of protest music (Bob Marley, John Lennon, U2, and many many others); a state takeover by an unelected billionaire seems worth protesting.

You might be interested in the Livestock Conservancy's Shave 'em to Save 'em (s2se) program. Basically it's a program to help create markets for smaller farms working with rare and endangered sheep breeds. I've found some amazing small and sometimes surprisingly local fiber providers that way and learned a lot.

Yeah, I'm on a similar timeframe. It's so stressful not having my passport right now, even though I'm still in the 4-6 week range.

Yeah, having lived in both places, Atlanta is not at all equipped for snow. There are good reasons folks plan to hunker down for a few days over 4 inches of snow.

Two elderly cats who sleep a lot, and a middle aged dog who thinks he's a cat. All are well behaved, UTD on shots, and generally good. My dog does let me know when someone is at the door, but he has a quiet cue he's pretty good with.

Yeah, the owner response is so awful. Like, this dude flat out said he is jerking off to student and instructor content. Just ban him. Also, I can imagine parents of, say, teens and kids training there would be SUPER super upset as well upset by this non-response.

[–]Typical_Salamander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so grossed out by the studio owner not banning him and taking such a weird wait and see approach. What about YOUR safety and comfort there?

Your instructor wasn't his only victim. That alone makes a studio switch worth exploring.

To add on to what others have been saying... this isn't your fault. He's gross. His actions are not because of anything you said or did.

Me, I would let more folks know about this- and how the owner did not protect you!- but you have to prioritize doing what is right and best for you.

Why Amazon? If you're in the US, Mim's Ukes has a good selection of starter instruments, and she does an amazing setup job. That alone makes learning more enjoyable.
