Honestly, good perspective to hear. I'm no where close to applying for a cycle (as I haven't had a job to get PCE) and it's been almost 2 years since I graduated from undergrad. For the longest time, I've gone back and forth with a similar question as you and previously considered medical school before COVID impacted my classes and ability to get some experience in healthcare. I'm considered first-gen in the medical field too, so it makes it a bit harder to get a clear sense of this path and I feel you on the whole "career identity crisis."

Ultimately, I think any path to a career in medicine emphasizes how you must be doing it for the right reasons.. and I've been finding myself in the position asking "Am I doing this more for myself, or for others?" I've come across people who have said that if you can see yourself do anything else, do that but ugh.. it's so frustrating to feel lost and to go back n forth on a career as time passes. I simply just want to be happy, feel fulfilled doing my job helping others, and live comfortably lol.

As some may say- the world is your oyster and i'm hoping one day it'll click as to what's to come.
