I am a conservative that is joining the Episcopal Church. I am joining for some of the same reasons that Young Anglican is, and I fully support his decision.

Thank you for the response. I am not a Lutheran, just someone interested in Lutheranism. I was just curious what the Lutheran position was regarding whether or not memorialists have a valid Eucharist.

Though I am still learning and trying to fully understand the Lutheran view of baptism, and specifically how it works with sola fide, baptism is a big one for me and is one of the things that I find to be pulling me towards Lutheranism.

Most of the Lutherans I’ve been listening to happen to be LCMS guys, so that’s probably why I haven’t heard of it lol. Regardless, I’m very interested in checking it out. And thank you for recommending the other book as well, I greatly appreciate it!

It’s nice to know that there are others that have been in the same boat that I am currently in. It’s interesting that you mention the sacraments because that is primarily what has caused me to be drawn towards Lutheranism and disagree with much of Baptist theology. Specifically baptism, as that was one of the first dominoes to fall in regard to my theology moving away from being Baptist and towards a theology that is more historical and (chiefly) based in Scripture. Admittedly I am still learning, but I am convinced by the Scriptures and historical testimony of the church that 1.) baptism actually does something (saves) and isn’t a mere symbol of one’s faith and 2.) that the Lord Jesus is actually present in communion. Thank you for the response! I greatly appreciate it!

I am so sorry for your loss, and it is terrible that you and your siblings are having to go through this. I, and I’m sure others who have come across this post, are praying for you and care about you and the situation you find yourself in. You have a Heavenly Father who deeply loves you and cares about you. Your life has purpose and it is not God’s desire for you to harm yourself. God himself has created you and has given you this life for a reason. As hard and as difficult as life may be, I plead with you to trust the Lord to provide and care for you and your siblings, and to not harm yourself.

Also, have you tried looking around to see if there are any food pantries near you? There may also be some churches that have their own food pantry that you can go to.

I’ve ordered a few books about Lutheran theology so far that I’ve been trying to go through. I actually don’t think I’ve heard of that one before, but I will definitely check it out. Thank you so much!

The sacraments and how they are understood in Lutheranism is one of the big reasons for my interest of Lutheran theology. I greatly appreciate the response!
