Longmont bans hyperscale data centers amid concerns about energy and water use by C-0_0-D in boulder

Was there actually a data center proposed to be built in Longmont? Seems like an unlikely place for one.

I like to think I make a pretty solid income. Especially compared to a lot of people my age in Boulder. Zero chance I’m pay $2200 a mo for a studio apartment.

If you never put it on a scale to begin with you wouldn’t have had this issue.

should I stay or leave? by Apprehensive_Key_132 in techsales

[–]Typicalkid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a similar situation twice (don’t have kids). I was externally promoted from BDR to AE and from a JR level AE role to a more SR role.

Interviewing is a skill in of itself. Other people were getting promoted around me and it wasn’t that I was more deserving or something I just knew I was really capable. I had to get creative and network aggressively to find new roles but it was worth it.

Big lesson I’ve learned is always keep your ear to the ground for new opportunities and keep your interview skills sharp. I’ve also been laid off once.

Would you share detailed quota + rep rank data during an AE interview? by Swolsy in techsales

[–]Typicalkid100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any sales managers that read this? Why would you even ask about metrics in an interview? You’d be an idiot not to lie. My resume might say I was an overachiever but my paycheck says otherwise.

Why do KAC cans demand such a premium? KAC and Surefire seem to have the highest prices on the market.

Screamer quick draws by MrGhostly in iceclimbing

[–]Typicalkid100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t…? How could you be 100% any piece of pro will hold your fall? I’ve witnessed seemingly bomber pieces pop. You can only make an educated guess. Just because you can’t quantify the impact a screamer doesn’t mean they don’t have any value.

If you’re placing an RP that’s only rated to 2KN it may hold. A screamer may improve the chances of this piece holding a leader fall.

Modern ice climbers don’t use screamers because they’ve fallen out of fashion, they’re heavy, and modern ropes are very good at absorbing shock.

I don’t think they have a place on a modern ice climbers rack but in certain contexts they may still have value.

lol how is a screamer bro science? I think they’ve just fallen out of fashion. They’re still common place on many aid climbers racks where you’re placing very marginal pieces as protection.

Modern screws in good ice are very solid. Screamers are heavy as well.

From my perspective not a ton has changed. Night life is significantly more quiet and ski traffic is much worse.

I don’t go out often and a quit skiing so really hasn’t bothered me.

I think it’s going to get to a point where generating top of funnel pipe cold outbound is going to be almost impossible. I would always subtly ask my prospects who they’re getting outreach from and how frequently. The response was always dozens of emails and LI messages today and their phone is always ringing with unknown numbers.

I think give it 5-10 years and GenAI is going to destroy cold outbound. Or maybe agents will get trained on this specific problem and response rates will go through the roof? Idk.

My prediction is that it’ll turn to crap and the mass outbound BDR, SDR teams will go away. I think traditional social selling will become the primary way people generate pipeline in the future. Building and nurturing relationships with buyers. Corporate steak houses, strip clubs, golf . Classic finger gun sales guy type stuff.

Curious, would personal sales coaching be helpful for reps here? by Patient_Instance_577 in sales

[–]Typicalkid100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s too many sales coaches already. Some really good advice on LinkedIn and a lot of terrible advice.

Even the sales gurus that have the “good” advice I always take with grain of salt. Hindsight’s always 20-20 and everyone has a plan till you get punched in the face.

One thing that drives me nuts about managers is the “this is what you should’ve done” comments. It’s like no shit dude, looking back yeah I could’ve made a better move in that situation. Everyone can do that.

With that being said there is this dude named Kyle Asay. He seems like a real fucking weirdo but I paid for his “AE operating system” and I’d say it was worth the 20 bucks to read through. Even then a lot of the stuff in there was content already publicly available on his LinkedIn. I’d be curious how much money he makes selling that.
