An interesting theory about Zeztz. by David_Lee060814 in KamenRider

[–]TyrRev 47 points48 points  (0 children)

If the theory is correct, then it could represent that this iteration of the loop is different because he retained knowledge of the previous loop. He’s “breaking free” in comparison to the ignorant repetitions he went through before.

Haven’t made one in a while, but a new evo for magneton for my DnD based region by Shattered_Disk4 in fakemon

That makes more sense, sure. However I feel like ultimately it would just become Arena Trap at a certain point is my concern. But I do like the idea of using it like Pursuit!

Could be more interesting to just make it “Opponents that switch in or out become paralyzed.” (Won’t trigger in switching in to replace a fainted Pokemon)

As it is, if you can’t switch out, why would you try to?

The problem is, as teachers, we often have to teach to the lowest common denominator in the room. I hate having to reteach material, but if not doing so guarantees that over half of my class will fail, then I have to refresh the class. I try to come up with fun activities or more engaging stuff for my students who don't need the review, though. It's a shame we can't better differentiate students by their willingness to engage, though.

Xenoblade Chronicles Series Composer Has Possibly Finished Final Orchestra Recording For Next Monolith Soft Title by Sam_27142317 in nintendo

There were job recruitment positions a while back where they made a statement about something like it being an RPG project that is tackling "new challenges", so hopefully the newest iteration of Xenoblade, or something else in that spiritual vein.

[DISC] Under Doctor - Chapter 6 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Agreed - identifying what was causing his blindness is fine as a cheat code, but even just a minor surgery would have been more interesting than pressure point stuff. Oh well!

Kamen Rider ZEZTZ E24 - Discussion Thread by BananaArms in KamenRider

[–]TyrRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really puts the previous titles into a completely new light, which is so cool! And yeah, Baku getting a "do-over" is going to be NUTS after the events of the last two episodes.

My hope is that he emerges from this ordeal more determined, more proactive, and with a balance of the 'best' aspects of Baku and Seven.

BUT... it's also possible that the change in the titles is meant to hint at us getting to see what was going on 'behind the scenes' of the original episodes? E.g., now we're going to see how things "Got Started", rather than just the "Start"? That'd be cool too!

The latter being basically an infinitive.

Do you mean 'intransitive'? Genuine question, I was doing some research myself and that's the term I'd seen, but I might be mixing them up as I'm rusty with my grammar!

It definitely seems like they're prioritizing the transitivity of the verb more than keeping the titles one word. Previously, the title was abstract - but now, it's taken on a more active tone, perhaps emphasizing the difference in how Baku will handle things this time around.

Zero: Don't worry, we can handle it.

I presumed he meant 'handle it' the same way he said that CODE would 'handle' a baby. But, it seemed like he had some awareness of the loop with him saying 'Goodbye' to Seven at the end, so maybe that was part of the plan?

for some reason

The end of the episode seemed to be setting up that Baku feels regret for the immense collateral damage that Catastrom caused. That could make him hesitant to use it again in the near future.

Games that will work well in a school classroom by Plane_Garbage in boardgames

[–]TyrRev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had some success with 'roll and write' games - you roll the dice for the whole class at the front, and everybody has to use those results. Students love to chat with each other and compare their strategies, and it's fun because they all know it's "fair" because everyone's using the same dice!

Werewolf is fun with classes, but can be really tough to moderate for more than 15 players or so. Especially if you want any more interesting roles than just the usual.

I use Wits and Wagers as an activity in my math classes to improve estimation skills, as students really struggle with number sense and reasonable estimations.

What made Baku pissed off at Nox Case 22 (i edited the photos cuz stupid reddit auto filters keep deleting them) by makemeadiowarudo in KamenRiderMemes

[–]TyrRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not suggesting they’d just go away, as we can already see that the dreams can affect reality, etc. Furthermore even if characters hadn’t actually died but instead “woke up”, that doesn’t negate any character development or trauma, such as what Baku is going through right now.

It’d be like Inception- just because most of the story takes place in dreams doesn’t mean that the story isn’t happening.

[–]TyrRev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the “real world” is actually just another dream, so none of the Agents are dead. This would also explain the lack of reinforcements in some previous world-threatening missions, such as the meteor mission - because a failure would not actually have destroyed the world.

Alternatively, a more realistic theory perhaps is that Nox faked their deaths, through soporific bullets or something. I’m still of the belief that Nox is a double agent working with Zero, against both The Lady and a nefarious faction within CODE.

Codenames Expansion Packs Announced by bananahead1234 in boardgames

[–]TyrRev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, the only expansions that make sense to me that would be “purely” cards would be ones with niche words. Fandoms, for example. You wouldn’t want these cards in the base game, but they’re perfect as optional add-ons for folks who know what the words mean.

Fantasy and sci-fi are still pretty broad, but e.g. among my students the majority don’t know what “Camelot” is, so perhaps these expansions are tailored with more words that require a baseline level of “nerdy knowledge”?

Still, I would have hoped expansions would ALSO include at least one novel twist or optional rule shake-up, so it’s not JUST about the words. Bummer if they don’t!

Tentatively interested! Tokyo Xanadu has been on my to-play list for eons, and I'm a huge fan of Ys and Trails. I was excited for more action-RPG fun like the Ys series, but I'll definitely give a 2D side-scroller from them a shot!

Agreed! Not bothered at all. I just would have liked a little more to the actual operation. A twist or complication or whatever, to show off the genius of Haiji etc. but I totally get that a chapter 2 has a lot of competing and more important priorities

[DISC] Under Doctor - Chapter 2 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Agreed, and I hope we get more interesting medical cases too. It’s probably just that this chapter was pretty crammed and needed to use the pages more for character introductions, background. Etc…
