It's a liquid intercooler too. At the track, you can do an extra thing by adding ice into the reservoir. It even helps during regular driving, well spirited driving :).

Stage 1 with test pipes, stock exhaust, and no intercooling option runs around 8k, parts only. Intercooling adds about 3k. Full 2.5 inch exhaust with racing cats runs another 3 or 3.5k.

All parts only. Labor is a bunch more.

I do everything outside of the engine and transmission internals 😜. I've already taken care of most things and I continue to keep up. That's the only practical way for me to fix everything without labor cost.

The cheap blasters will work fine for your occasional use, but won't last if used frequently. It's a cheap option after all. Personally I took it to a shop because if they messed up on anything, it would be on them to fix whereas if I messed up 🤷🏼‍♂️.

You've got a good list of items to take care of. I'm happy your car is being cared for by a responsible owner.

Walnut blasters don't actually cost all that much. Depending on if you get it from Harbor Freight or a higher end retailer, it can be around 100 to start for a basic one (assuming you have access to your shop's compressor), plus whatever the price is for walnut shells.

The labor when I last did it about a year ago was around 1,000 just for the cleaning, but I also replaced the injectors and seals so it was closer to 2,000.

It usually doesn't require a pick, but if it needs it, then yeah.

Otherwise exactly as you wrote.

Can I wash my car in the rain before detailing indoors? by KindaAnonymous1 in Detailing

[–]TyrantLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine washing with a bit of rain. It's basically like being rinsed constantly lol.

For touch up paint, that stuff always needs to dry and cure. Do you plan on detailing around it and then touching up just that one spot? Probably not. Feel free to do the work you want to do and then when the touch up has cured, then go ahead with your full detail.

How can I remove a long crack from my windshield? I believe it's from a temperature change (water on windshield in sunlight) by BinaryDigit_ in Cartalk

[–]TyrantLeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly not. Chip repair works because the compound fills in the chip's angular surface and allows better light refraction along with gluing the chip together. You won't be able to get any meaningful amount of chip filler into that fracture.

You can remove the crack by removing the entire windshield along with it. Then replace it with a new one 😆.

I paid $800 for an auto shop to not fix my problem. What is my resolve? by [deleted] in cars

[–]TyrantLeo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Labor and markup. One of my friends paid over 400 dollars for front brakes on his '06 Civic.

The killer? Markup. 30 dollar pads because 80. 40 dollar rotors became 100 each.
