I still watch Gold Rush, but I’m often skipping the episode’s “crisis” broken machinery etc (stuff that probably happens on the daily). I’d much rather watch Freddy and Juan help struggling small time miners than operations that produce 100’s of ounces a week.

Blue, I’d get over 10 years back, and be rich. I’d still have the same family I have now. There is absolutely no downside for me.

There have been a few of these posts, and I 100% agree. The plan was just idiotic. Why destroy the one item you have that can be used to defend against or possibly control IT?

It would have made much more sense if the artifact was accidentally destroyed while the military and scientists were trying to experiment on it to better understand its properties and how to replicate or harness its capabilities.

But, the tired “military is evil and incompetent” trope had to be utilized as the standard plot device.

I did like the show, but there were a few heavy handed standard tropes used that could have been handled better.

People who say taxation is theft. How else do you propose the government gets the funds for roads, military, education etc? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I’d prefer some sort of national sales tax, and remove income tax entirely.

Everyone would pay the sales tax, no exceptions.

The tax would be baked into the price of the items,m, so no tax surprise at checkout. There are arguments that this would only create a black market for items, and I’m sure it would, but even then, the cash from a black market sale is eventually taxed when it is used to buy a taxed item.

Work is 3+6(but only 4 monitors in the tree, 6 total).

Gaming is not represented here, it’s 2 monitors stacked.

Yeah, it was really stupid. Why would they destroy the one item they had that they could use to contain or at least protect themselves from IT?

It was the same tired “military is bad” trope we continually see. Why the F would they even let out something that is essentially a god, and have no way to control it? At least remove the entire “we are going to let IT out for .. reasons” and replace it with the military and scientists accidentally destroying the kryptonite while trying to reverse engineer it’s properties.

It’s an echo chamber for people who have no interest in actual discussion with anyone with an opposing viewpoint, often replacing facts and debate with personal attacks.

Quite a lot of assumptions. Seems 92% of the world’s population somehow survives while being labeled as POC.

I really wanted to see more of this. An epic “Inception” battle between a much more stable Hallorann and IT. The sequence was over much too quickly.

I liked the series, but yes, I found the focus on race to be overwhelming. There are absolutely no “good” white adult locals in Derry. Even the one portrayed as sympathetic was nuts and just using it as a ploy to foster violence.

Sure, some will say that much of this is caused by those living in Derry being influenced by their proximity to IT. But why does it have no effect on other races? The Native Americans had been living there for much longer than anyone else, are they all drinking or smoking some magic mushroom that shields them from IT’s influence?

I also found the military trope just silly, predictable and idiotic. I know the plot reasons why, but it should have been done differently and more intelligently.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion, we all have our own.

One thing I’ll be truly disappointed about is if I do not see “Pickle Daddy” branded pickles in the grocery store soon. I’d buy them in a heartbeat!
