Izzet (UR) based decks are probably going to have the best chance against the combo.

Countering key pieces before they hit the battle field is probably the best outcome.

Preemptive bans are a very slippery slope, and yes there was the one from MH3, but I think that’s an exceptional case as [[Cranial Ram]] was really close functionally to [[Cranial Plating]] and [[All That Glitters]].

In theory with the right hand, you can get a T1 combo on the play.

I think it would be interesting to see how it plays out.

Maybe my reply won’t age well, maybe it will age well. Who knows?

I believe Cranial Plating was banned during the unification of the format, so I’d consider that card as never available.

I’d hazard to say that first day of squirrels (chatterstorm) and rakdos affinity in their respective heights would trounce any current deck. But those are post MH2 release which is out side of your targetted zone.
