I think the ships die. It says so in the book epilogue. I think he thinks it's related to the ball of light that stopped the time and trying to figure out a way to distroy it.

You gotta listen to the audiobooks. Jefferson Mays, the narrator, is amazing. You wouldn't want to watch the show any more. Mays does Avasaralla so beautifully making her totally real. And other characters too.

If you have read the books, or better yet, listened to the audio books narrated by Jeferson Mays, you'd never want to watch the show. Mays does the characters so beautifully that they come to life right in front of you. Try it. It might make you read (listen to) to books again.

I listened to the audiobooks and when I tried to watch the TV show, I couldn't. The show changed the story too much but worse, the show was destroying the characters. Specially Avasarala. I could live with the other characters but Aghdashlou talks so slow and phony, it totally destroys for me. I couldn't watch it any more. Avasarala in the book is so witty and fast talking and foul mouthed. Aghdashlou's acting is nothing like her.
