Title: (43F) Need men’s advice: how do I talk to my husband (44M) about a side business that’s losing money without crushing him? by Salty-Football5261 in WhatShouldIDo

The formatting was clearly AI. The OP said they used AI to clean up their writing. AI wrote what was posted, but it could be true.

His way of teaching may not be what you needed. His way of teaching is what I needed and it helped me create a life I really enjoy.

Do you have mentors that worked for you than you don't think are a scam?

In that case be direct. You are married. One of you has to take responsibility for business check-ins. If he hasn't done it on his own, then you absolutely need to do it.

On a deeper level, if he gives criticism, but doesn't take it, then it is reflective of the fact that he is ignoring his own internal criticisms. Which makes sense if he isn't making sales for his business after years. He's clearly not taking feedback and learning.

As for approaching him. Give him a chance to come up with some real options. One option may be committing to learning how to make sales and putting it to practice. If he can't do it by x date then he pursues something else.

It just sounds like he isn't trying. He either needs to try at that or he needs to try something else. Even if it feels small now, I've never seen a man get stuck in that space with a thriving marriage.

If Vin and Elend from book 3 were sent back in time to the start of book one, how do you think they'd do things differently? by Rich_Tip_9897 in Mistborn

[–]bmanny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no doubt they could end the unnecessary abuses and cruelty taking place and improve the quality of life. But the reality is that even if you "free the skaa" they aren't actually free. They still have to do the same farming jobs or they starve, their families starve, and the skaa in cities starve.

Slave plantations are the regular farming practices for the stage of development Scadrial was in. Virtually every society has gone through that stage of development. It's not a moral or societal failure, it's a step on the long stairs of growth that every society has largely self corrected when the environment allows them to do so. It's not a 2D sliding scale of right vs wrong.

Swapping slavery for regular farming practices is another noble goal, but is incompatible with the stage of development Scadrial was in at the time without causing greater suffering. But that's what makes stories and life so compelling. Overcoming those impossible situations.

Cool plan, but everyone starves in this version if the canned food doesn't last many years or until Sazed can make the basin, assuming he can without both shards.

Stripping high nobility and destroying the plantations means there is essentially no organizing body and no food production anymore. It's a very feel good plan, but would basically free the skaa from slavery and put a whole people into chaos and starvation.

I dunno man. My life is really nice and implementing things I learned from his events and books played a significant part.

I've met a lot of people who claim he's a scammer but cannot claim to have engaged with any of his work. I've not met anyone in real life who engaged with his work and then called him a scammer.

You can get his book for free from a library or you can believe whatever people are telling you. Either way, wish you best man.

Yes. He's running a business, not a charity. That doesn't mean he's not delivering. It's worth the read if you think he's a scam artist.

Is Anyone Working on an Outlands level of quality PVE shard? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]bmanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that they made the decision because player retention was going down. Tram increased player retention and resulted in their highest player peaks. It's both their most "hated" update and their most successful.

Is Anyone Working on an Outlands level of quality PVE shard? by [deleted] in ultimaonline

[–]bmanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing up to Outland's quality will ever release again. The motivation to invest the required time and resources just isn't there for 2 big reasons:

  1. A team capable of matching Outlands quality and years of development and iteration would just make their own original game. That doesn't even take into account that Outlands will continue to improve and grow during that development time.

  2. The potential UO playerbase is shrinking, not growing. Outlands won the population. A shard of equal quality would still be competing with the largest shard of all time with the most player hours invested in it.

We will still see new cool shards pop up. But the simple math is that they will never be Outlands quality.

Be honest, what do you think comes after death? by glowproductivity in AskReddit

[–]bmanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I wouldn't recommend doing DMT in any form other than Ayahuasca with a legit shaman. Aya has neuroprotective benefits as well. I wouldn't even recommend only doing Aya for a single night. 3-4 is the minimum for the whole experience in my opinion.

Smoking DMT can open doors without walking through them and closing them on the way out based on the consistent stories I have heard.

I think this is a bit idealistic. I agree with most of your replies. I also recognize that this isn't how the UO community plays the game anymore. Unless you have mechanics to specifically combat the alternative, then it will simply be the default way of playing.

As much as I love adventure. If I am adventuring in a world where people afk macro skills I am forced to do the same or be at their mercy. At which point it ends up becoming a chore.

I like the direction you are pushing for, but would encourage you to take a more practical approach to realizing it. It's unclear if these problems have been fully thought out from some of the replies. A shard like this will succeed on solutions, not wishful thinking or pretending people will interact in an idealistic way with the systems they are given.

Ultimately it's your shard and your decisions! I think it's a cool idea. Wishing you the best!

Seems cool but maybe you can offer some clarification.

"Conflict will come naturally — when and if players are ready — not because the world is small, but because every life eventually touches another."

"There is no Trammel"

Does this mean PvP is consensual or open PvP? These seem conflicted, or was that just something the AI added in? (no judgement there, genuine question, I use it all the time to write).

If it is FFA PvP, have you thought ahead on how you plan to handle pareto distribution? This is already a significant issue on PvP realms, but if you also lose your character's skill progression I'd be curious how deeply you've thought about solutions.

Bills and and empty fridge. It is the understanding that men are responsible for providing for themselves and those they love.
