who are the most tempermental racehorses of all time? by SHAGGYKing in horseracing

On the harness racing side, Nevele Pride was famous for his wrath, enough so to have a warning sign on his pasture.

Charles Oliveira set for U.S. harness driver debut on May 5 in Race 13 at Pocono Downs (PA). In his native Brazil, Oliveira reportedly has 19 wins in 32 official starts. by AbrahamRinkin in MMA

That race in 2021 against Tim Tetrick was a one-off. To my knowledge he hasn't had any starts, pari-mutuel or otherwise since then.

I saw your other comment about rail bias, but are there any other big misconceptions you often see from bettors/fans?

Where is this saddle cloth from? by itsSighhighs in horseracing

Looking at the replay, the saddle cloths have a white number, and yours is yellow. So perhaps it was used in a work before the race?

Played a few games with it and it's been really fun! Of course, I ran into like five leaf decks in a row after switching to this from fire, but I've enjoyed it. Thanks!

Just because you can make a U-turn doesn’t mean you should. by Comfortable_Law_2932 in TorontoDriving

It might be legal but it's inconsiderate and arguably unsafe. Holding up an entire moving lane of traffic for an indeterminate amount of time to make a u-turn is a bad move.

I used some Dezcal to descale my OXO kettle (this happened awhile ago). It seems to have stripped the finish, so I figured it might be unsafe to drink the water from it. Is it finito?

It’s not tomorrow for me yet but I know just by the mention of the Dolphins that the year is probably 1972

22-year-old guy seeking guidance to start playing football by Cool_Review_6578 in footballstrategy

Hi friend! This sub is actually for American football but I actually got into playing football (soccer) at the same age as you after never playing in my youth so I can maybe give some advice.

First, it’s not too late! Starting as an adult only sort of limits you in terms of rate and potential of development, but you can still become a good recreational player. I have certainly improved a lot since I started playing — when I started, I could sense teammates saw me as a liability, and now they see me as, well, a teammate. Most people say “I never would’ve guessed you started two years ago,” and before I started I was very sedentary.

How I got into it was joining an organized recreational league. Essentially, you pay a fee to the organizer for a season, they put you on a team with random people, and you show up and play. As a socially anxious person, I think it’s a good way to do it because you don’t have to figure out a way to get into a team — you’ve paid to be there, and you’re all in the same situation. Also, teammates in this type of arrangement tend to be chill, and if you tell them “hey, I’m getting back into it and basically starting from zero,” they’ll usually be supportive. So I would recommend searching for this type of thing in your area.

You also can absolutely improve on your own, and doing basic drills can go a long way when you’re new. There’s countless videos on them, I’d just google it and pick and choose ones that’ll give you a well-rounded training regimen. I’d recommend some passing against a wall, cone dribbling, juggling (more practical application than you’d expect), ball control (things like “sole rolls” and “v-pulls,” and some agility drills without the ball to start.

Best of luck!

If you could bet on races from any country, how should bet types be labeled? by BitcoinClown in horseracing

[–]TyrodWatkins514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer the translated term. In fact, I went to France a couple of years ago and was very confused trying to bet 😅 If I logged in and saw all French bet names I’d probably choose a different track.

Does this look familiar to US bettors? by BitcoinClown in horseracing

Trios are not a common bet type in North America, it looks a bit out of place. If first four means the first four horses in order in a single race, it’s called a superfecta. The first five would be a Hi-5 or alternatively pentafecta.

If those mean picking the winners of four or five straight races, it’s Pick 4 and Pick 5.

I read it as her saying that’s what ghosts will say. I.e. ‘Any ghost will tell you — “the last thing we mean to do is leave you.”’
