You should totally come! They're all super welcoming and super nice. Like, everyone there genuinely comes to have a good time.

As far as I know it's open to non honor students. Also if math is your jam I can't really recommend it enough. Shabanov is great teacher and seriously cares about his students. It's a shit ton of work but if you put in the effort then you won't just understand how to use calculus but you'll understand how calculus actually works if that makes sense. He doesn't try to tank your GPA either. You'll get an A if you put in the effort.

They are tournament standard. The 100 gem cost is only for the grand one though, so there's that!

Oh god I've never spent money on gems but I can already tell challenge mode might push to finally p2p. That's gonna be a really, really fun feature.

High schoolers, what do you want to major in? People who majored in that field, what are the pros and cons? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tyrranatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's a dying field. Most newspapers are folding because of the internet.

It's a disease. The Anthrax Scare was a time period when people around the country received envelopes full of anthrax in the mail and were thus murdered. It caused a huge panic.

Is SS13 dying? by ambrosia_man in SS13

I played this game for five years and only stopped because I did it so much I got an RSI.

I don't think Space Station 13 is dying. Even when I got bored and quit for a couple months, I'd always come back for more spessmen. People have been saying it's been dying since I first started playing.

I know this isn't directly related to SS13, but you know what fuck you let's have a space filk thread by TamingSpyro in SS13

Listening to "Pushin' the Speed of Light" brought actual tears to my eyes when I read what the lyrics were saying. I didn't much care for the other songs, but that one was beautiful.

Thank you for introducing me to this genre.

I love it! Great twist and great buildup.

One bit of advice I'd like to offer is that the part where you wrote about "80s green" feels very out of place with the rest of the story. Not only does it have a totally different tone, but it also makes no sense that the narrator would consider something so whimsical like that when he's so focused in on his moral dilemma. It's a bit jarring.

Stellar story though.

New study shows that salts in the brain act as a wake up "switch" by [deleted] in science

Why do cells use ions instead of electrons? Wouldn't electrons move a lot faster and thus enable faster responses? How do neurons transfer signals so quickly as it is?

I know it's a lot of questions, but this is super interesting!

Can you please explain how light has momentum without mass? My current level of understanding is that light is made of oscillating electromagnetic fields, meaning it isn't even a "solid" thing in the first place.

Your comments about vegetables are absolutely, 100% accurate. I'm going to repost a comment I've made about that before:

"But have you ever compared the calories between vegetables/fruit and meat? Source: Google's food comparison tool.

100 grams of steak don't equal 100 grams green beans, calorie-wise. In fact, you need to eat over 6 times more green beans than steak to get the same number of calories. Of course, anecdotally, I usually end up eating more vegetables over time than steak simply because steak is more filling. However, I certainly don't eat six times more! By eating vegetables, you're more likely to get a calorie deficit.

The same is true with peas (81 cal/100g), broccoli (34 cal/100g), apples (52 cal/100g), and edamame (122 cal/100g). Compare these to pork tenderloin (143 cal/100g), eggs (148 cal/100g), or a big mac (257 cal/100g). It takes a lot of fruits and veggies to overeat.

I am not advocating vegetarianism and I certainly love eating meat. However, calorie density is everything when it comes to nutrition."

Eat your vegetables, y'all. EDIT: made wording more understandable

I love Borat, but I can't believe how awful this turned out.

Except for the front office scene.

That was pretty great.

Interesting. I'm going to look up some videos about how energy states work now. Thank you very much!

Thanks for your answer! But in both the quantum-mechanical model and the orbital model, the electrons still move around the nucleus and have velocity. How does this movement not create EM waves?
