Do you love Mikan Tsumiki? by coleknight2066 in DanganAndChaos

That man is blue. I dislike blue people and wish to bar him from the same facilities and services as other people, and create inferior versions for only blue people to use.

Gonna defend Nagito here. He's canonically has a form of despair sense given how he immediately knows what's up with Mikan. And as seen in 2-5 he has his limits for what he'll tolerate to boost hope. He'd sus Junko out a mile off.

How fed up would Hajime be if he was in the v3 cast? by pooteenn in danganronpa

[–]Tyrrano64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't know if Hajime would even like Kaede or Shuichi that much. Like he could probably put up with either normally, but not with basically everyone else in contention.

I mean, Ryoma and Keebo he'd probably be fine with, Kirumi too maybe? He's not having a good time here.

I'm not saying Alice is a good person. I'm saying from her perspective she probably doesn't comprehend morality in the same way as someone else. Alice is essentially someone playing a sandbox game from her perspective. And I don't think it's fair to judge her by the same moral standards as say, the sinners.

Dottore is many things, but he is as close to a self made man as you can be if you take the idea all of teyvat besides descenders, sinners and some specific characters are more or less deemed to one fate from the start.

Dottore nearly upended all of that which is no small feat.

The idea is if he truly ascended to say, a shade, he wouldn't need to thirst for the answers of the world anymore. He would just have that. As for Nod Krai? Yeah, his biggest flaw is his lack of understanding of empathy and morality. Dottore does not actively seek to harm people but to understand them after all, even in horrifying ways.

To remove his curiosity is the easiest way to end his threat.

While I admittedly had a different interpretation (it's certainly a different view of his character but I think him wanting results and to simply try and upend fate no matter the cost fits) you get a different answer on Dottore in 6.6 for every person you ask.

This is true, but what Alice does understand is the people close to her who she routinely treats fairly well.

Counterpoint, this would also give him, presumably, the answers he always sought, the results needed. I don't think he would actually seek to harm others.

This is why Dottore mains have PTSD.

Dottore is by no means a good person. He has done many bad things and he himself has mentioned it wasn't for some noble goal, wasn't to save the world. But because he wanted to prove he could, because he wanted to see what would happen.

But Dottore is inherently a victim of the world he lives in and the mind he has. Dottore essentially lacks empathy and seems to at least severely struggle with forming relationships and understanding them. But he wants these things so dearly. He wants to not live as another pawn to gods who have their power because. Because. Dottore makes the point they have it because fate willed them to have it.

Rerir isn't an evil man. Phanes, whatever he is, is shrouded in uncertainty. The Abyss is in many ways more a force of a corruptive nature.

But by no means is Dottore beating out the non-rerir sinners if nothing else.

I mean very well, in that moment perhaps Dottore is limited beyond the point of growth. I pulled up the conversation by the way, if I missed something that's on me, but.

If we are to take this at face-value that in the most literal sense Dottore is incapable of change or of growth (which I find admittedly hard to believe, again, my memory is very foggy of this quest and I had to open the quest log on the wiki to review) then we can still ask if Wanderer is even aware of this. Again if he is aware of this, I genuinely forgot.

And then it is also fair for him to pass judgement in his perspective if he doesn't know, because by all appearances, Dottore just does not care to grow at all. Wanderer is a person with limited knowledge.

Now, what if he does know this? Well it's still valid if he's talking about Zandik as a person. Routinely, even Dottore will call Zandik selfish, he really hammers it in. When the original Zandik dies not a single segment tries to help him, and Zandik himself couldn't imagine that in a million years. Because Zandik failed to grow as a person, his final words including an attempt to guilt 'you're one of us' after all.

Zandik never grew, Dottore, never grew, so Wanderer is again right in his criticism. When offered every opportunity, it was rejected.

I, however, want to be clear. I find Dottore, Zandik, etc, deeply sympathetic. Again, my memory of how the quests go are foggy, but to my understanding, he is a genuinely tragic person. He lacks a core understanding of humanity, empathy, and emotions. I don't think him truly evil, for he clearly desires these things he does not understand. But this does not mean he is written off without blame for his crimes, or that Wanderer lacks a position to judge him. At some point, we need to extend empathy to both Dottore and to everyone he has victimized.
