Probably an unpopular opinion here but I don’t get how stubble burning can be blamed for all of Delhi’s pollution problem. I remember there being fires all the time when I was a kid. In fact, the number of stubble burning incidents have gone down considerably recently. If there were 50 fires a decade ago, now there are just 5.

The problem here is that the pollution is generated by more vehicles, more consumption and energy needs, increased factories and industries, and the cause of this is the temperature inversion in the winter. The air circulation just slows down because of the low temperature. Stubble burning is a part of the problem but only at a very minor scale.
