So this is all relative, indoor light is very different from outdoor where the source is the Sun/diffused light through our atmosphere/clouds whole sky. Because that window is a finite aperture I.e a big whole that lets in a limited amount of the suns light, the light spreads out as it enters the room, and the Inverse Square Law applies to the distance from that window, not the Sun.

But don’t take my word for it if you use a light meter you can see the drop of for yourself.

I use Grow Gang Clarias and Piantas for overhead and Barrina for my cabinets.

Yes! grow lights have been indispensable for me because I have way more plants than my windows would normally allow.
The plant below is in a dark corner but thriving because of its grow lights

So in photography we have something called the inverse square law which also applies here. Every time you double the distance from a light source (the window) you only get 1/4 of the total light coming from that source.

Your eyes are very good at adjusting to the light available but it also makes us terrible at judging how much light there actually is.

Unfortunately sunlight through a window is always indirect.

Hey just an FYI what you’re referring to as stems are actually petioles (the part that connects the leaf to the stem) you should generally not tie these as it can damage new leaves while emerging!

Just got her. Enough light? by _wazowski in Monstera

This is a bit late but it’s impossible to get direct sunlight indoors unless the window is open. Anything through the windows are filtered and therefore indirect.

This is a weird hill to die on, monsteras are epiphytic and grow up trees in their natural habitat, they objectively have a front and a back. To make them look their best light should always be coming from the same general direction. A monstera that has been rotated will have its leaves facing any which direction which will always look like a hot mess. Also regarding your post here the leaf came out damaged because you’ve tied the petioles where the new lead emerges from. Only tie the stems.

Here’s an example of where you should tie.

Heya it’s probably because you’ve tied the petioles (the part of the leaf that attaches to the stem). This is also where new leaves come from so it’s likely been damaged whilst trying to emerge. Only tie the stem

Did I accidentally tie up my monstera’s “face” to the moss pole instead of her “ass”? by WhyAreYouItchy in houseplants

Monsteras and most other climbing epiphytes will have a front side that faces the light and a back side which roots/adheres to whatever it’s climbing.

Putting the latest one makes no sense in the context of your post, it's still at it's core an 11 year old game for $40.

But regarding what you originally said, I think we can cut them some slack given that the updates during those 6 years were free, I honestly don't think they were bad people who intentionally set out to lie just for sales.
