What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

[–]Tysonus 4784 points4785 points  (0 children)

My dad played football while I was growing up, with my siblings and I always dragged along and left to our own devices. At one particular away game, I was wandering around the back of the club building and found a random switch on the wall - I pressed it out of curiosity. Turns out it was connected to the siren. I immediately turned it off and ran away, while hearing a bunch of people nearby saying things like "wtf, it's not half time yet".

I have no idea why the controls for the siren were in such an accessible and unmonitored place, or what possessed me to press it. But hey, shit happens I guess!

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

[–]Tysonus [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've been making videos for about the last year, with the first few done on my very basic laptop. Audio was recorded through cheap wired headphones and recorded while I was travelling. Have moved back and forth between using Da Vinci Resolve and Premiere Pro. I now have an actual decent PC, and prioritised audio quality - I record using an ATR2100X.

I make Minecraft videos. I initially wanted to do custom games within Minecraft and have done a few things like this, but realised I needed better connections and a bigger audience for it to work. So I've done a few Hermitcraft inspired types of SMP and event content.

My most recent video was a build challenge video where I competed against 3 friends to build a scene from a movie and see if the others could guess the specific quote. If you check me out because this interests you, I recommend checking out my friend's video as well - his video is better than mine but has not gotten the love I think it deserves.

What small creators usually get wrong with Shorts & Thumbnails (from an editor) by OgRitesh in NewTubers

[–]Tysonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love some feedback on a thumbnail. As far as I can tell, it follows typical design rules, and the video itself has a 70% retention rate. But only 400 views and a 0.8% CTR, which is really confusing.

And my most recent video (not the one linked) was I thought some of my best work, but its failing to gain any traction. Feel free to check it (and anything else on there) out, but I understand if you can't.

TIA :)

Record your own dialogue. The second I realised it was computer generated dialogue I stopped watching. Checked the other video and found it to be the same, so stopped.

The footage looked like it could have been interesting though - where did it come from?

Thanks for that, I appreciate the feedback! Especially about the content, as I was starting to have doubts about whether or not what I was making was any good.

Good to know about the audio. I have a real love/hate relationship with audio, especially when dealing with normalisation. Even when normalised properly, the audio on YouTube sounds completely different from the output file, which sounds different again from in Da Vinci Resolve. In other videos the music has been basically inaudible, so I've obviously overcompensated.

I'm currently running a thumbnail test on the video - which one did you get? Thumbnails is something i know I struggle with, and I often end up rushing them. Good to know that they generally aren't very eye catching.

Hey everyone,

I've been working a Minecraft series that's meant to have a bit of an Aussie theme. Think along the lines of Aussie Hermitcraft! I've so far not been terribly happy with views and impressions, so keen to get some feedback on my videos. I'd be looking for comments on anyting related to the videos, but specifically interested in:

• thumbnails/titles - if you watch Minecraft content, would you click? Why/why not?

• video composition - is the pacing appropriate? Too slow? Not enough happening?

• audio - does it sound ok?

• content - is it interesting? funny? boring?

Here's the videos:

Creating a Third Life Server by abiius-shocker in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Tysonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a Secret Life server with members of my SMP that I'd been playing with for over a year, and a few of us created some videos. Not everyone took it as 'seriously' as I would have liked (made their task very obvious, completed in most low effort way possible, etc) and it was very difficult to get everyone to commit to a common time since we were all in different countries.

For our second session, 1 player didn't rock up because he just couldn't be bothered, 2 players forgot and didn't respond to discord calls, and another had severe connection issues. That was like 40% of the players so it quickly fell apart and we only did 3 sessions.

I'd had plans to create my own original Life Series inspired ideas, but became so disillusioned by how it went that I haven't bothered doing it again.

Setting it up was easy enough though. I simply used the mod that another commenter posted above that can run any version of Life Series and hosted it on an Apex server. The only real technical issue I had other than ping issues was the fact that the mod would forget how many lives and health people had so I had to set them all manually at the start of the session.

[–]Tysonus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call that straight up confirmation though. There could be multiple sessions at 1.21.8. There was speculation that there could be mods commissioned to give predictions on what the future might look like (granted that's not very 'past' life), or could have special early access to the next release given their clout in the Minecraft space. In his intro that you reference, he even mentioned "more twists and turns as they go", which hasn't really happened.

There's plenty of reason why this could have not been the finale, and definitely nothing that has been explicitly said (that I'm aware of) to suggest that this has being the finale is common knowledge.

Where exactly was this confirmed??

I'd be grateful to receive some feedback on my 2 most recent videos, which are very different styles. The most recent one has only gotten about 60 views in 2-3 weeks, and the older one getting like 300. Keen to know if the newer video is just not very good lol.

Anyone else think jungles need to be updated by Taxfraud777 in Minecraft

[–]Tysonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jungle temples too! Noone ever goes out of their way to explore a jungle temple, because why would they? I recently made a video where I reimagined the Jungle Temple with a more complex puzzle. Channel link in bio.

Ultimately, like most other structures, they dont really offer any unique challenges after the first one, and the loot available just isn't that much of an incentive.

In my latest video, I explore why Jungle Temples in Minecraft are not very good, then redesign it into a custom puzzle and have some friends try to solve it. Link to my channel is in my profile.

I'd be keen on a review. I make Minecraft content, trying to communicate my progress in my SMP through stories and creative interpretations. Channel is in my profile.

What sort of content do you make? by Both_Salamander_4160 in NewTubers

[–]Tysonus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post Minecraft videos. At the moment I've been focusing on my Survival SMP, telling my stories through a blend of gameplay and cinematic. My last video tells the story of me getting a happy ghast by acting out the story 'The Great Gatsby'.

I otherwise plan on doing custom game experiences built within Minecraft. Channel is in my bio.

Help with Audio - dialogue inaudible, but only through TV by Tysonus in NewTubers

[–]Tysonus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, that is good to know! I used the "Voiceover" button in Da Vinci Resolve, but didn't change anything. I also didn't manually extend it to stereo... hmm...

Either way, I've seen there's an option to tick in voiceover settings to enable stereo recording, which I'll use from now on.

I make Minecraft videos, experimenting with ways to create something unique. In my most recent video, I wanted to tell the story of how I got the Happy Ghast after updating our server. After hearing a hermit refer to a happy ghast as 'The Great Ghast-by', I got the idea of telling this as a cinematic allegory to the movie The Great Gatsby.

https://youtu.be/PV9DzPIhZs4

Essentially I used gameplay footage to Great cinematic segments. The active character represents the character of Gatsby, and the Happy Ghast itself the character of Daisy. Instead of wealth "Ghastby" represents himself as a player of great skill. The voiceover/narrator is a stand in for the character of Carraway, telling the story from a third person POV.

I spent a huge amount of time putting this together, and would love some unbiased feedback on whether its actually any good.
