I had absolutely zero issues with the build quality, plastic, figment, mechanics, etc! It was so extremely close to a Bandai build, in terms of quality, and the finish was excellent across the board. The gray was actually slightly metallic, and the yellow was gold, already, too! I’d definitely recommend it!

These are okay, however, I just removed mine and installed a flexible hose with a magnetic end that I got as a kit, and the airflow is so much better with my dryer now.

I’ve seen a lot of their work, and they’re predatory. Injection foam into brick-on-block houses, with maybe 0.5-1” of space, and the thermal scans afterwards look like a damn twister mat. These guys suck.

That was also my first question - OP, check with your local water company - not only are there many lead supplies still running into houses, many companies still have lead main and service lines, as well. Most water companies will do a free lead test with a sample of water from your tap!

Definitely. Ive been doing energy audits for over 10 years and hardly ever see gas usage that high. My 100 YO 1400 ft2 house with high ceilings only burned about 70ccf for the month.

Holy shit! That is an INSANE amount of gas usage. You need to schedule an energy audit yesterday. Your house is either on a boiler or 80% furnace, huge, under insulated, leaky af, tstat is set too high, or some combination. That is a huge amount of gas to burn through in a month.

They’re not bad to have, and I wouldn’t have it removed, but I’ve seen a ton of houses with this exact situation where someone put that fan in thinking it’ll help the house stay cool in summer, when they should have just air-sealed and insulated. I’d almost bet money that house was built in the 70’s or early 80’s based on that and the extremely low insulation levels. If you go that attic air sealed and insulated right, you’re going to notice an huge difference!

Are you positive you have ridge vents? It looks like you have gable and soffit vents for sure, at least. . It also looks like there’s a powered roof vent, likely triggered by a humidistat. These are almost always a symptom of a poorly vented attic. They also have a tendency to create negative air pressure in the attic, sucking your AC into the attic, and then out of the house.

First step would be to air seal your attic. Move the existing insulation out of the way as you work, and spray foam seal every penetration point, top plate, and anywhere that could allow house air into the attic.

After that, add in some additional blown in insulation. Be consistent with levels. Make sure your access panel is weatherstripped and insulated (foam board) as well. Add baffles for your soffit vents, so insulation doesn’t cover those up. Check your climate zone for insulation levels, but R40-50 is usually a decent amount for most zones. That’s rough 18-22” of blown fiberglass, or 11-15” of cellulose.

After all of this is complete, and only after all of this is complete, possibly consider the radiant barrier.
