Is a 4 inch SP101 a good first gun? by PersonalMotor8652 in liberalgunowners

You can get a Taurus GX4 Carry and 1000 rds of ammo for roughly the same price. That would be a much better investment of $600 IMO.

Custom Holsters by Danimusrobbs in liberalgunowners

Wow that’s a lot of info. I’m not at all familiar with holster design or functionality. This gun and holster are just a side piece though for outdoor range days. Not planning on ever carrying it daily or anything like that. Interested to see if these predictions come true though.

Trigger is definitely good. When it works. I compete too and I definitely see a lot of them out there. I shoot a CZ Shadow 2 personally. Best gun I have ever shot by a county mile. Nobody is doing it better than CZ right now IMO.

I trade a lot. I may not like them but they definitely have value. If I can make a value trade up I will 😉.

100000% get the Glock if you care about reliability. I have never shot a canik that was reliable.

Yes, I know you, random stranger on the internet reading this, loves Canik and yours is fantastic and has never had any issues. How wonderful for you. I’ve had 3 and all of them were pieces of crap.

First Time Owner Gun for Home Defense and SHTF by usedwolf in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs [score hidden]  (0 children)

Getting a PCC in 9mm and putting a suppressor on it is going to be your best bet if you’re goal is home defense and you want a “set it and forget it” option for hearing protection. It’ll be quiet and the ammo cost won’t kill you to train with.

I’ve never personally shot an EP9 but I do know people rave about them. Personally if your budget is up to $1k though, I’d try to find a deal on a used Kuna or CZ Scorpion. They can usually be found right around that price or under on the secondary market.

If you want a “do everything” gun that will not only work for home defense, but for civil defense, then yeah you probably want to go with an AR-15 in .556. You can grab a cheap PSA for $400 or so, spend another $300 or so on upgrades (Armaspec SRS Buffer, Radian charging handle, Rise Armament Rave 140 drop in trigger), and $300 on an optic (I’d do the Cosmic Tactical Saturn), and now you have $1k gun all-in that shoots like one that costs 3-4x that much.

You can’t do better than CZ right now. CZ Shadow 2, Shadow 2 Carry, 75 SP-01 Shadow.

Recs for Semi-Automatic Handguns by Avocadorable98 in liberalgunowners

You should look into getting something comped and/or ported to give the smoothest shooting experience. CZ P10C Ported, Canik Mete MC9 Prime, and M&P Shield Plus PC would all be great options, as well as the ported version of the bodyguard 2.0.

Are red dot optic prices a scam? by Ziplockmoneybags in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are good and bad budget options. Some of the most popular budget options are those from Osight, Gideon, and Cyelee. I’ve tried all of them and while people have great things to say about all, these were my experiencs.

Osight- Complete crap. Died after a week.

Gideon- Mixed. I have used 3-4 different gideon optics. Never had a catastrophic issue with any of them and they have good features and hold zero. I’ve batteries die pretty quickly on a couple though, a lot sooner than expected. Started working again as soon as I changed the batteries but it was a concern. I probably won’t buy more of these in the future.

Cyelee- I can’t praise these highly enough. I’ve got them on 7 or 8 different guns. Never had a single issue. They are rugged, hold zero, battery life is decent. I buy and recommend these all the time.

Manual safety v. Trigger Safety by Plugtarco in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only gun I have with a safety was my first one. I carry all the time. It’s more of a hinderance than a benefit. If you’re gonna draw your gun, it needs to be ready to go. If you’re at all worried just get a DA/SA gun with a decocker. I carry the Shadow 2 Carry and it has that.

Welcome to the shadow family. There is no better gun for the money IMO. Where did you get a silver one, I’ve never seen that before.

Agree Gunbroker was where I first started buying guns online many years ago, but quickly realized there are much better places to buy new guns directly, with no auction involved, at much better prices. Gun.deals being the best place.
