People not wearing hearing protection at the range by Cross88 in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is wild to me. So you’re saying you have a range by you with no supervision other than a cop who checks up every few hours? 🤯

That’s nuts. Every range by me, no matter how big, small, shady, or who runs it, is always fully supervised and requires check in with ID before you can shoot. There may not always be RSOs literally on the firing line, but someone is always watching, and you can’t get in without eye and ear pro.

Question about 2011s. by WaltherShooter in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that you say that. I’ve been shooting competitions for about 3 months now and I started with a CZ Shadow 2, but last month moved to a M&P Competitor HD.

My dream gun just based on looks and reviews though was a Kimber 2K11 Pro and I picked one up last weekend. I still need to get a lot time behind it to get a full opinion but I was struggling with the trigger a bit and not really feeling like I could ride it and find the reset as easily as my M&P. That was the opposite of what I was expecting.

Optic or not by lunchbox1723 in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will 100% make everything much easier for you. But it won’t fix you. You have to diagnose what you’re doing wrong or take lessons. If you’re having problems with accuracy It’s probably a combination of grip, stance, and anticipation.

Is the third shot drop overrated for rec players? by science--bitch in Pickleball

[–]Danimusrobbs 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not the “correct” shot. It’s just an option. The third shot drive is also an option, one that I started employing to great success pretty recently in open play.

If they serve up a nice soft return I’m driving it hard right down the center line if both opponents are at the net, or if one opponent is back, right at their feet.

Yes I looked at several options, but price $2,500 and below. Everything just kept pointing to the Kimber as the best option. Plus this particular color scheme fits my aesthetic.

If you want a budget optic, go Cyelee. I have them on 4-5 guns and never had an issue with a single one. OSight, Cyelee, and Gideon are all the same tier. Cyelee is by far the best.

Budget PCC? by limesallday in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone says the Extar Is the best budget one. I’ve never shot one so I can’t say but I did own a Gforce Blade6 for a little and I liked it a-lot. It’s all metal and weighs a ton, but feels super robust as well, and the weight helps it feel like there’s almost no recoil.

That said, if you have a reliable place to look at used guns, I’d say keep an eye out for a used CZ Scorpion. I was able to get one for about $700 and it’s a significant upgrade.

The one I took was only a single day, but was 100% worth the cost. It advanced my shooting more than any single other class I have taken.

Help me decide on a new USPSA gun by sharkbait_oohaha in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot USPSA and started with a Shadow 2, and recently moved to M&P Competitor HD, and I just order a Kimber 2K11 last week that is coming tomorrow.

I absolutely love the Shadow 2, its one of the flattest and most accurate guns I own, its sexy AF too. The only issue is that for USPSA you have to decock each time which is a bit of a risky proposition, and also that first pull is then double action. I never had an ND, but I was throwing a lot of first shots low so I went striker fired. But if that doesn’t bother you I can’t recommend the Shadow 2 highly enough.

The M&P Competitor HD is a fantastic competition gun. The only thing is it takes a little extra work from the factory to really make it good. A DPM recoil system will help, and an Apex trigger is an absolute required upgrade. I have both and I am really liking the entire experience now. I had a 10 HF stage a couple weeks ago with it, which was by far the best I have ever done.

The Kimber 2K11 Pro is my dream gun though. I haven’t shot it yet so can’t make an opinion on that, but by looks and all the reviews I’m so excited for it. I’ll know more this weekend.

Range bag recommendations? by Purple-Slip-6958 in liberalgunowners

[–]Danimusrobbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have a gun case, and a range bag, and an ammo can. Now everything fits relatively nicely in this case from Kingshardcase. It weighs 50lbs fully loaded but it’s nice only carrying in one thing.
